  • Why did the british landlock Afghanistan?

Why would you landlock a nation without giving it at least a small port to the ocean. Just look at Iraq the british gave them a port to the sea when they colonized them. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jordan other examples of being given small ports to the sea.

The whole war and instability of Afghanistan is because of the british durand line. How in the world can a country like Afghanistan develop if it has to rely on precipitation as a source of water. How can it export goods?

Afghanistan is surronded by hostile countries that continue to contribute to the unrest.

the british had no economic stake in afghanistan and it wasn't colonized like india, they simply wanted to contain the country.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Afghanistan was always Landlocked , What makes you think that Balochis would choose to join Afghanistan? I've seen the map, the Kingdom of Afghanistan did have frontier province, but Balochi lands were not part of Afghanistan, Even look at the Khanate of Qalat, It was a neighbouring state, but not part of Afghan kingdom, Only the Durrani Empire and Hotaki dynasty had access to the sea, through Baloch lands ofcourse.

If you gave Pashtun lands back to Afghanistan, sure Afghanistan would gain lots of Pashtuns, but gaining access to the sea means annexing Balochistan. At the moment, Baloch nationalists are opting for an independant Balochistan from Pakistan and Iran, what makes you think they'd let Pashtuns access to the sea.

Also note that Turkestanis (Uzbeks, Khazakhstanis, Kyrgyz, Uyghurs etc.) and Mongolic ethnic groups (IE HazaraS) has always been Landlocked with w/e nation they made , you think those Turko-Mongols should get annexed by Iran, Afghanistan or Pakistan so these guys get access to the ocean? The Central Asians did have access to the sea when they were part of the Arab Calpiphate, Iranian rulers, had their own Turkic/Mongol empires, (Uyghurs are now part of China so they get access to the sea from China) or the Russian Tsar (followed by Communists), but when Russians, Arabs, their own great rulers and Iranians left, they became Landlocked.

What? Baluchistan is actually known as Godar in the Pashto language. It was part of the durrani empire in the past.

Durrani empire was still a multi-ethnic country, you can make the boundaries of multi-ethnic countries in whatever way you want, so i advise you to talk to Balochi nationalists right away for the synthesis of a Pakhtuno-Balochistan. After all, Pashtun and Balochi/Brahui culture is 100% identical, only difference is Language. Plus, many Balochis come from Pashtun tribes, how common is inter marriage between Pakhtuns and Balochis in Quetta?

I agree. Pashtuns and Baluchis are very related. Lot of them have the same tribe names of Pashtun tribes. I'm sure a lot of Baluchis would be open to joining Afghanistan.

I think and as pointed by south_park pirate, being landlocked doesn't mean non-viability---Many countries in almost all continents are landlocked and are still doing well----plus one should think about broader regional integration based on voluntary and mutually respectful arrangement---

I am of firm belief that as history progresses, communities would merge into larger and larger groups with many small groups disappearing and larger and larger groups coming into being ---in the end everything fused into one whole---

Look back into histories---just 1000 years there were no nations or nation states just empires and kingdoms etc. in which many splintered and isolated groups were being ruled and united by force---

But Loy Afghanistan still has Chitral. Could you please give Pakistan Chitral and Badakhshan province to Pakistan? Why not Pakistan annexes Balochi lands from Iran? Or why not Loy Afghanistan?

Chitral is part of Khyber Pakhtunwa. Hence the province of the pasthuns. Khalash people claim desnendats of Alexander the great's armies and therefore believed not to be the original inhabitants of the region. As you said before, pashtuns and balochis are very much related so splitting them up would be disastrous. Both these people have lived in peace with each other for decades so why can't they now? Pakistan doesn't really exist. It's just known as India to afghans. Go to Afghanistan and try to find Pakistan on the map.

So we could be in the situation we are right now.

Pull out your swords and slay anyone that says Pashtun and Afghan are not one. Arabs know this and so do Romans: Afghans are Pashtuns and Pashtuns are Afghans!

Khushal Khan Khattak (1613–1689) was a prominent Afghan(pashtun) poet, warrior, charismatic personality and tribal chief of the Khattak tribe of the Afghans. He is the first Afghan mentor who presents his theories for the unity of the Afghan resistance against the foreign parts, and the creation of a nation-state.
