India Thursday approved additional funds for the construction of Salma Dam in western Afghanistan at a revised cost of Rs.1,457.56 crore, said official sources. The project will be executed by WAPCOS Ltd, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said after a cabinet meeting. According to officials, the availability of power and water through the project will lead to overall economic development of Afghanistan’s western region. It will also address the issues of energy requirement and irrigation needs. The project is expected to be completed in December 2014 or two years from the date of approval of the revised cost estimates. Forty percent of the dam has been built. india is no brother to afghanistan, its interests simply fall into a less violent catagory than pakistans because of its position at home, the region, and the world. 100 years ago, they were our evil pakistan, far worse than what this pakistan is to us today. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Can't blame India for this. It was the British using India's name to attack Afghanistan. The Indians were just pawns of their little games. They were forced to inlist in the britsh raj army so half their men would be sacrificed. not the other way around.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postindia is no brother to afghanistan, its interests simply fall into a less violent catagory than pakistans because of its position at home, the region, and the world. 100 years ago, they were our evil pakistan, far worse than what this pakistan is to us today."Revenge is a dish best served cold".

I think what Randolph is trying to say is that India is looking out for it's own interests, which is to avoid Pakistan having any sort of leverage in Afghanistan. I can say from ground realities that what India is doing is working, and most Afghans today prefer India over Pakistan. In fact, it's really scary as to how anti-Pakistan the nation has become. Afghanistan should try to maintain amazing relations with all of it's neighbor. Pakistan will NEVER, and mark my words, NEVER progress if it's anti-Afghanistan, and Afghanistan will NEVER progress if it's anti-Pakistan. It's in the interest of these two nations to grow up, and settle their differences.
Look at Pakistan, there are more daily deaths in Pakistan than Afghanistan. Pakistan is in a far worser situation, since it's population is 6-7 times the size of Afghanistan, so feeding them and keeping them under control is incredibly hard -- not to mention this recent rise of sectarian violence, something Afghanistan does NOT seem to have.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Any aid, from any nation, comes with strings attached. A proper leadership would know how to work things out. Look at Germany, after the US bombarded it into a ****-hole, the same US built it back up with aid via the Marshall plan, and installed it's troops. Anyone who thinks Germany is a sovereign nation should also have their head examined.Originally posted by Khostai View PostSaudie is building that Islamic center, who is totaly wast of money, atleast this dam will bring more water and power, I don't know what is wrong whith that, and yes Indians are here for there own benefit, but whith this dam Afghans can also take profit??? Yes you are right, I think Afghans should juts play the game allong and take benefit from it. And by the way its Pakistans own fault that so many Afghans hate them, helping US on one hand and than helping taliban on the other, this dubbel face game of them is making Afghans so angry, they are the ones that bring more oil in to the fire.Originally posted by Admin Khan View PostAny aid, from any nation, comes with strings attached.
