Im not in search of false heroes. Meaning, I have pretty much assumed all politicians are liars. But every now and then, a person's policy positions may give you a 1% sliver of hope. Chuck Hagel is in the process of being floated as a defense department head. He is generally in the same circles as Ron Paul and son and Scheuer. I think he is one of the few people who is truly looking out for the interests of his nation.
Many 5th column citizens are shaking in their boots: the Isreali firsters, the Saudi oilmen, the Pakistani military murdering machine, and Afghan Emigre who are busy making a cash killing off sustained warfare against the interests of their adopted nation.
Almost immediately, the shrill voices of William Kristol, Neocon-Zionist extraordinaire and the AIPAC israeli lobby started to sound the alarms... as did the foremost members of the military industrial complex (MIC).
Someone in the administeration probably leaked Hagel's name in order to give these forces the time to generate a hooplah.
One quote that should give the American people comfort is his level of honesty. Here are the quotes that Bill Kristol is taking acception to:
"But Kristol, and then others, went further, publishing a passage from a 2008 book in which Hagel is quoted as saying: “The political reality is that . . . the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here.” "
"Hagel was explaining why he didn’t sign all of those nonbinding letters from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, justifiably calling them “stupid.” He further said: “I’m a United States senator. I support Israel. But my first interest is I take an oath of office to the Constitution of the United States. Not to a president. Not a party. Not to Israel. If I go run for Senate in Israel, I’ll do that.”"
The latter quote has these folks very on edge.
He has opposed both the Iraqi and Afghan surges and has made it apparent he wants to pull America out of its plethora of bases world round.
To give you an idea of how ridiculous this is becoming, the Washington Post had the gall to expose its utter lack of balance and unmask its ties to AIPAC by publishing this editorial:

Michèle Flournoy, remember the name, is an Israeli firster who gave the Israel unprecedented access to the pentagon.

"And no one has done more to strengthen the US-Israel military relationship than she has while leading the effort for a robust US military strategy in Afghanistan. Just ask the Israelis about the former and top military analysts about the latter.” He adds,”Best of all her appointment would scare the hell out of Ali Khamenei — by making the military option more credible "

Why is Hagel and his nomination important?
Well, we American Muslims have a duty to humanity to inform our citizen colleagues. I understand that the likelihood of having any impact is zero to .00001%, but that doesnt absolve the moral obligation. For years now, there have been many schrill voices of many 5th column citizens that have created a narrative that goes something like this:
"The people that America is at war with have bad teeth, smell bad, dont drink potable water by choice and pretty much are made that Americans all have ipads and that Britney Spears can have concerts."
The reality, based on the data is far different. University of Maryland's high powered studies and now University of Arizon's studies as well as the CIA's own writings answer the question of "why do they hate us?"
The majority of the evidence shows that it has nothing to do with Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, ipads or anything of the sort. Rather, it has to do with interventionalism.

They catalogued more than 1,500 quotes from the Qur’an that extremists used to support their arguments, and identified the chapter (surah) and verse represented in the quote.
Results showed that most of quotes are about enduring hardships and maintaining faith and hope in the face of attacks by enemies of Islam. The so-called “Verse of the Sword” (9:5) that says “fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them” was used only three times." “These findings challenge the idea of a clash of civilizations,” said the study’s lead author Jeff Halverson, a professor of communication in ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in reference to the theory that future wars will be fought over religious identity rather than national boundaries. “What extremists are really saying to Muslims is, ‘our communities are under siege and God will defend us if we have faith and courage’.”
The 5th column citizens like Khalid Hosseini, the Jewish Lobby members, Christian Zionists, the MIC acolytes have had to create a ruse in order to maintain a moral imperitive for the now war weary Americans.
The problem is that Chuck Hagel, Ron Paul, Mike Scheuer and others are doing the job that we should in terms of being peaceful members of our society without any malignant intentions who seek to inform our colleagues about what is really going on abroad.

If someone like this actually gets the cabinet position, those 5th column citizens that wish to send off Western children to die in Eastern lands and those that are making a profit off the suffering of Afghans will be a little more restless since the nation may start a conversation in the least.
