  • Che Guevara and the Soviets

There were multiple foreign ideological inoculants into Pashtun territories thanks to the British and Russians. In this video that Din posted:
    http://www.pashtunforums.com/showthread.php?t=34271

Rory Stewart does an excellent job describing that history, of Pashtun territories that were sandwiched between Czarist and then Leninist Russia and British India.

Go to 9 min 53 seconds here to see Hamidullah Tarzi, a minister in the commmunist governments of Afghanistan:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=2GkK2A1u7lw

He clearly says that the excesses and insults dealt to Islam (purposefully I might add) were what ignited the people to rise up against the communist ideologes first, and then the invaders.

    http://www.thenation.com/article/167...ce-afghanistan

A second high ranking communist official echoes his commentary here:
    http://www.thenation.com/article/167...ce-afghanistan#

"One old communist official, Saleh Muhammad Zeary, whom Steele tracked down to a humble tower block near London’s Heathrow Airport, explained the resistance this way: “Peasants were happy at first, but when they heard we were communists, they changed. The whole world was against us. They said we don’t believe in Islam, and they weren’t wrong. They could see we didn’t pray."

These two officials are sure to not play the classic Najibullahist blame game where the following theory is posited:

There is and was never an Afghan insurgency. It was all planned by the Americans and the ISI. A few mullahs in the areas around Kabul were armed by the CIA and paid to rise up. Then, a very common Brzenski video is posted to somehow prove this assertion. The reality is that Brzenski never comments and never supposes that they invented the insurgency. He just makes it apparent that they harnassed native angst and catalyzed events that were already in motion. The above communist party officials put that on the record. The reason these folks want to play this pseudo historical game is that they want to provide a nonexistent picture of an Afghanistan that replicated Shah era Tehran or Zahir Shah era Kabul and then claims that all of Afghanistan, including the rural masses were exactly the same. In their zeal to blame Islam, they then want to provide another ludicrous theory in which these denizens of this nonexistent Shangri Lah had wild urdoobaan and arabs enter the scene and take them hostage against their will.

So where does Che Guevara come into all of this? I certainly do not agree with his complete world view. One can definitly see though, that Dr. Guevara was a response to Yankee action in Latin America. As a young man he was affected by the CIA backed coups in Guatemala and other neighboring countries. He saw interventionism in Latin America as benefiting some feudal lords, companies, and distant masters. These ideas of his were historically correct and he responded with reactionaryism by adopting the only available ideology that ran counter to the one being forced on his people by the local super power.

One thing that is highly commendable about Che though, is his message from the grave to these Pashtun Communists and Russianists come capitalist democrats overnight (cough cough Atmar). This hearkens back to my comment above about how there was a significant segment of the Pashtun elites and party political folks who decided that the Russian revolution stood for everything that was best for a people subjugated by the British and their own capitalistic designs. In Leninism these folks like Abdul Samad Achakzai saw a way out. The proletariat had taken hold of his own destiny and overthrown the ultimate feudal, the Czar (or Ceasar). This proletariat had also then destroyed the institutions that fomented subjugation, such as the supposed dealers of opiates to the masses, the clergy.

The reality historically was far different. The real revolutionaries of the era, the Kronstadt Sailors, were massacred. One might say that their role in ousting the shah was similar to the bedouins of the Ikhwan who aided Shah Saud. Like the Ikhwan, when they Kronstadt sailors, the elite soldiers that sought to honor and protect the true republic of the Soviets, rose up, they were attacked by Trotsky and Lenin who had stolen the revolution from the people and started oppressive measures against the peasantry. In reality, unlike what Young AbduSamad had heard and read, the people were more enslaved than ever.

The history of the rising of the naval town of Kronstadt in Russia by workers and sailors supporting the original aims of the 1917 Revolution against the new Bolshevik dictatorship. The rebellion was crushed by Red Army troops under Trotsky's command.

Che's evolution of thought was commendable. As a physician he utilized evidence based approaches to life. He knew the ravages of the Yankees. Shown here in 44 minutes and 40 seconds, Che launches a long hard plan to become economically autonomous. He had the forsight to understand that the empire controlled many aspects of independence, including the economic lifelines. We see this effect today on nations like Turkey and Iran. Their decision to play ball with Western economics has rendered them very susceptible to warlike sanctions (hence why Ron Paul refers to sanctions as the first acts of war).

The True Story of Che Guevara - The Documentary - YouTube[/URL]

So then, Che thought it wise to establish ties with the Soviets. Like AbdulSamad and Asfandyaar he was a believer in the idea that his enemy's enemy was his friend.

Guevara and Kruschev work to install missiles in Cuba as a deterrent.

Che's awakening comes at 52 minutes and 20 seconds in that film. Kruschev and Kennedy collude together and decide to establish separate spheres of influence.

Che went on to become disillusioned with the Soviets and basically tells them off in person.

He understood that the imperialist powers, whether Yankee or Red, had their very own ideas on the role of the indigenous populations they involved in their Cold War chess game.

So then, the greatest of the socialist revolutionaries, Dr. Guevara leaves behind a very apparent legacy that subdues and crushes the theories of teh Najibullah acolytes. If someone as involved and as active in revolution and struggle as Che Guevara rejected the Soviets as an option, why should Pashtuns have felt that they were a safe option? Both the Yankees and the Soviets lacked any connection and commonalities with the indigenous populations of Afghanistan.

At 54 minutes and 56 seconds we see that the Soviets considered Dr. Guevara a threat once he started to struggle on the Latin American continent.

Some even venture to guess that the Bolivian escapade that ended up leading to his demise was Fidel Castro stepping out of the way to allow the Soviets to get rid of Che Guevara. The evidence behind this is in Che's own diaries where he indicates that he arrived to Bolivia without any of the help available that Castro promised.

In summary, the Najibullah acolytes and their red brethren in KP have nostalgia for the bipolar era. They viewed the Leninist Russians as extending the helping hand against the remnants of British imperialism (i.e. Yankees). Yet the history of Kronstadt and of Che Guevara prove decisively that they are living in an ahistorical reality.

We have yet to understand how they reconcile the Russian nostalgia (cough cough Soldat) with the supposed free wheeling acceptance of the capitalist free enterprise military industrial complex nestled now tightly in Kabul. Isn't this sort of like being an atheist and theist at the same time?

This is not theory, this is a reality. Some Akhwanis like Gul Babu and Mullahs were rented by CIA and ISI to subvert revolution and provoke USSR into invading Afghanistan. No amount of Akhwani chicanery can hide that fact himself accepted and mentioned by Brezenski and Robert Gates (From the Shadows) the ex-defense secretary.

But filthy Islamists that stuffed their tummies with $$$s and got visa to American heaven can now go on denying the fact and inventing lies.

According to this 1998 interview with Zbigniew Brzezinski, the CIA's intervention in Afghanistan preceded the 1979 Soviet invasion. This decision of the Carter Administration in 1979 to intervene and destabilise Afghanistan is the root cause of Afghanistan's destruction as a nation.

      The CIA's Intervention in Afghanistan

      Interview with Zbigniew Brzezinski,
President Jimmy Carter's National Security Adviser

Le Nouvel Observateur, Paris, 15-21 January 1998
      Posted at globalresearch.ca 15 October 2001

Question: The former director of the CIA, Robert Gates, stated in his memoirs ["From the Shadows"], that American intelligence services began to aid the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan 6 months before the Soviet intervention. In this period you were the national security adviser to President Carter. You therefore played a role in this affair. Is that correct?

Brzezinski: Yes. According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahadeen began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan, 24 Dec 1979. But the reality, secretly guarded until now, is completely otherwise Indeed, it was July 3, 1979 that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And that very day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained to him that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention.

Q: Despite this risk, you were an advocate of this covert action. But perhaps you yourself desired this Soviet entry into war and looked to provoke it?

B: It isn't quite that. We didn't push the Russians to intervene, but we knowingly increased the probability that they would.

Q: When the Soviets justified their intervention by asserting that they intended to fight against a secret involvement of the United States in Afghanistan, people didn't believe them. However, there was a basis of truth. You don't regret anything today?

B: Regret what? That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter. We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war. Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire.

Q: And neither do you regret having supported the Islamic fundamentalism, having given arms and advice to future terrorists?

B: What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?

Q: Some stirred-up Moslems? But it has been said and repeated Islamic fundamentalism represents a world menace today.

B: Nonsense! It is said that the West had a global policy in regard to Islam. That is stupid. There isn't a global Islam. Look at Islam in a rational manner and without demagoguery or emotion. It is the leading religion of the world with 1.5 billion followers. But what is there in common among Saudi Arabian fundamentalism, moderate Morocco, Pakistan militarism, Egyptian pro-Western or Central Asian secularism? Nothing more than what unites the Christian countries.

well of course the soviets and american's played their games in afg, but afghan muslims didn't need encouragement from another godless entity in the US to hate the communists and fight them. the only difference between the sides were that the government needed 100,000 soviets in afghanistan to protect them along with billions in aid, while the mujahadin only needed the aid and not the american troops.

Here is another academic source my Akhwani friend high on Akhwani opuim---confirming the aid started before invasion although the stance taken by Brezenski is absurd and defying commonsense.

The Islamists dog however could be let loose on any body---no end to primitive animalism.

Lol---you are forgetting 70 thousand the most dreadful rabbies-bitten terrorists gathered from all around the world and brought into Afg in addition to the most primitive-ape minded recruited from within Afg in hundred of thousands to be fuel of the war. This is not to mention the tens of dozens of agencies in including Mossad aiding them and stuffing their tummies with stuff.

daoud was killed by the commies, the first commie was killed by another commie, the second commie president was killed by the soviets, the 3rd commie president was exiled, and the 4th commie president was left to die like a dog.

when someone talks about the afghan muslims being used by foreigners, its time for some self reflection. all the muj leaders made it out alive and well into the 2000's.

the increase in downed aircraft after 1985 is not exactly exponentially huge here.
