The only way to do this is have the Afghans fight it out and have one group overwhelm the other, and only afghans have to do the fighting, foreigners siding with one side will just prolong the conflict.

Pull out your swords and slay anyone that says Pashtun and Afghan are not one. Arabs know this and so do Romans: Afghans are Pashtuns and Pashtuns are Afghans!

Thats a myth, there are more weapons in afghanistan than people but there are foreign hands in every country, the difference is that there arent foreign soldiers in every country. Name one country that has no foreign influence in it.

the usa ^^ , oh wait right there is israhell lol

the question is what kind of foreign influence and to what degree , and to what terms ....

the pakis could secure afghan neutrality towards india , by just guranteeing not to interact into our internal affairs , and a steady unconditional route/access /transit for our goods imported and exported !!!
              easy as that ...

but if those people consider you already savages and hillbillies or their property ( aka there is always somebody weaker to beat on ) than what you can do ???

if you have to eat **** , and there is no way to avoid it , than eat **** of a palau khor , not another s-h-i-t e-a-t-e-r

                Abasina,
You have to understand the pashtun people. You are working with very conservative people who are xenophobic. If you come with a good idea and with good intentions and you have armed foreigners behind you, these people will reject you automatically. If you come with a bad idea but no armed foreigners, they will lend you their ears, they will listen. I remember my father telling me stories from back during the king days. A lone soldier would come to our village with a dabia(stick) and the villigers would shower him with flowers, giving him the utmost respect and he would ask the villigers what they need to progress, he would offer them a deal, he asked what they needed and in exchange he asked the villigers to have at least one child go to school.
This all changed with the communists forcing progress and modernization of the country, it totally backfired on them and left the country destoyed. Now the communists intention was to modernize the country and so was the Kings which was good depending on opinion but the difference is that the King knew his people and the communists did not and that simple mistake destroyed the country.

Today you have NATO intervention who cant stablize the country, if that is not working, the only solution is to have the Afghans fight it out and let them come with a solution. IT is almost certain that if NATO leaves completely, most Afghans would put down their weapons just like they did after the Soviets left and the governmnet only fell when Soviet Aid stopped. Its not the Afghan government that the people hate, its the foreigners with guns coming in to their homes and disrespecting their families that people have issue with and then that transfers to the afghan government who does nothing about it.

kushal , the soviets didnt stopped their aid , just as the americans didnt stopp ( till 1990 they suppossedly were supported by the russkies ,even tough it was said there was no more cash coming after the peace settlement of 1988 .
however just as the americans promised not to support the mujahedin ,they continued especially with the advocating of the pakis . the russians started again in 91/92 supporting rabbani and massoud just as dostum openly ...)

thats why all the civil war happend ... if it was all so easy as if you describe it we would have no problems .

how long does we have to fight other peoples war ?

i fully agree with you that our sovereignity must be guranteed and restored and that all topakian and r´lle must be removed ....

but the question is what comes after ? again fighting ? again killing ? again being chessboard for others ? again daal eaters or iranians or some midlevel intelligence idiots playing warlord on our backs ? polishing their ego ???

i can gurantee you that you hate your fellow afghan more than those who use him against you

The soviet aid stopped when the soviet union collapsed:
                    https://www.ndu.edu/nwc/Research/Doc...alleyProof.pdf
the Soviet aid stopped in January 1992, the Afghan government could no longer pay the army.
I can guarntee you that every afghan wants this war to stop, but how can you stop it. You cant stop it by sidelining certain groups. Karzai should have never sidelined theTaliban or HIG because then those groups are going to be used against the afghan government by its enemy. He basically allowed the disenfranchised afghans be majbora to Pakistan.

You can't compare afghanistan's foreign influence with another country, and thats what i mean.

Pakistanis can not win the war via Taliban and they recognize this fact and the non-Pashtuns do not want Pakistanis or their proxies in Kabul. Such meetings is about making deals between Pakistan and the oppositions.

Afghanistan peace plan would increase Pakistan’s role

Taliban 'could govern parts of Afghanistan' under new peace deal

Afghanistan: Will the Taliban Destroy Itself?

                                http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...oy-itself.html

"This is the last chance to change their minds and convert from a military force to a political force,” a former Taliban official says. “Otherwise the Taliban will be history.”

Why should have any of the Taliban´opposition fear of them? The support of the West for them is sure if Pakistan seek to intervene in this or coming war. The current government is existing on the shoulders of the former Northern-Alliance. They gripped over the army, the police, they are the hardcore supporters of local militias and arbakay, they control commercial knots in the north and west, they control 80% of the state economy, they rearmed in secret all their militias, the control the secret service (which run independantly out of the government´s control), they are the only power who can offer alternatives and security, specially to their ethnic kins.

In a coming war, the army can not fall apart as it was the case in the 90s and even in the 70s and 80s. Maybe many Pashtuns will leave the army and police in the south but they will not risk their lives for the Taliban. In a war that is not supported by US against Taliban, they have to come up and leave the guarillia-tactics if they want to be succesful against their opposition. Otherwise a virtual border between Pashtuns and non-Pashtuns will devide the region in Afghanistan and chinkistan.

But Taliban are tired of fighting and so are Pakistanis disappointed of Taliban and other of their servants who could not fullfill their wishes and serve the Pakistanis national depths in Afghanistan.

Civil war is possible and a coming devision is sure. The only losers in a coming war would be the Taliban and Pakistan. The days have changed. The Northern-Alliance does not act devided and isolated from the world-community. Further, this was can be seen as a war between US and Pakistan and allies.
