Taliban are a grass-roots movement hailing from Kandahar. But today, everyone across Afghanistan who is resisting American agression and takes up arms to fight the colonists is labeled as Talib. Even if you speak out against the colonists, dont dont even use violence, they label you as Talib.

This implies that a certain political stance is associated with Taliban. Since the movement is politically active, whether it is militarily or not, it is political as it tries to influence the politics of Afghanistan through various means.

Everyone from Masood to Hikmatyar to Taliban, none of them claimed to be political entity when they started war against USSR. It was latter that everyone jumped into political struggle for power.
