oh yeah before someone pulls out the "u hav the luxuries of the west" bullcrap on me i lived in afghanistan for a while wen the taliban were der. and for a person that reali loved his country n people luxuries of the west arnt soo sweet{musafar}

anywayz i wont say taliban is good for us pukhtoons but ill say one thing i frankli dnt giv a crap about afghanistanis we got too much bad blood. the onli thing thats gna work for afghanistan is not democracy lol its a police state controled by the majority. thas the onli way we can get afghanistan to stand on its legs quickli.actuli that goes for any third world country providing the leader hav some humanity. at the end of the day id rather live free then have stability but thats just personali for me. i support the insurgency all the way..im a pro pukhtoonistanay.

If the Taliban is so hated how are they gaining public support and being able to stay in power even when superpower and worldpowers are all attacking them?

Yes, I have personally suffered their brutalities and all of us have seen this happen. Did you forget yesterday's mayhem at the shrine of Data Darbar in Lahore? Do you think that was a UN and CNN propaganda? It makes me so sad to see people are so dumb. Our people are being massacred and we see it everyday from last 30 years, but you still say it is CNN propaganda. I have never watched CNN and I am not a member of any UN organization. One of my relatives was a member of Taliban when they ruled Afghanistan. He broke tape records and music cassettes and punished drivers for listening to music on Kunar-Jalalababd road and watched pornographic movies when returned to Peshawar. The whole thing was being controlled from Peshawar and Islamabad.

I tried to follow a little the discussion and it seems very dramatic but at the same time important to me . As Armenian and non-Muslim I am surely not the person to give here statements , but I ant to make som questions and to write some thoughts if You allow .

Well, the country was in a chaos situation and everybody was hoepless. And they had money and weapons and full support of Pakistan. Pakistani generals were working there and you know majority of the are illiterate so they are always deceived in the name of Islam.
At that time, Afghanistan was not like today's or the 1970's Afghanistan. Only less than 10% of the population was living in the country, the 90% was out of the country. Those people first welcomed them in the hope that the chaos will end. But that did not happen. Within the first year they knew that situation was not better but worse. What the jihadi warlords were doing in an unorganized way, the Taliban started doing that in an organized way. But the people could do nothing becasue the Taliban had weapons, were being supported by Al Qaeda and Pakistan. So the only option was fleeing the country. There were people who had not fled the country during the Russian invasion and the civil war, but they had to flee during the Taliban? Why? Because they were worst of all the previous phenomena.

Please, why you are asking permission for questions? This is an open discussion and anybody can ask about anything, and can discuss anything.

You honestly think we are in better shape now? We are being used by every country on the map. Even by Pakistan.

Is that anything new? We have been used by many powers for last more than one hundred years. Our communists were used by Russians. From 1980 onward, the CIA used about 10 million Afghans, the entire Pakistani state, many Arab countries and Islam in their fight against the Russians. After the withdrawal of the Russians, all the jihadi groups were used by different countries and powers. The Taliban were completely a useful tool for ISI. And there are still many people used by different countries and powers.

But we are of course in better shape now than we were 9 years ago. The reasons are the following:
1) More than three million children are studying in thousands of schools now in the country where there were only total about 10 schools (and that in the worst conditions) during the Taliban.

2) Modren roads and railway lines are being built in the areas where the Taliban drove Pakistan-imported donkeys.

3) 24 hours electricity is provided in the cities where the Taliban did their press conferences using candles.

4) About 400 media outlooks (about 350 of them independent) are functioning where there was only one Taliban-run sharia radio during the Taliban.

5) About 15 million Afghans have access to telephones and 3 million to internet where only a few Taliban officials had telephones and that also with Pakistani numbers, not Afghan.

6) More than 10 million Afghans have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan, Iran, and European countries during the past 9 years, while about 2 million had fled Afghanistan during the 6 years of Taliban (there were only about 3 million people in Afghanistan when they seized power).

7) There is a functioning army, police force, intelligence force, courts, electoral system, and other infrastructure while none of them existed during the Taliban.

8) There is a rich museum and many more cultural and historical treasurers which attract many tourists from around the world while all these things were looted and sold out in Peshawar's kabari bazaar during the Taliban.
