AQs plan was never to prevent a full american onslaght. It was actually to unleash it. They were well aware that If America was going to fail, they were going to fail in Afghanistan. This failure was to give courage to the muslim people to overthrow their respective regimes. The plan was to duplicate what happened to the Soviet Union in regards to Eastern Europe. The Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan gave the Eastern Europeans the courage to stand up to their respective regimes. It created the question "if the primitive afghans can do it, why cant we." Now dont make the mistake that it was never intended to break up the United States because they United states ensures freedoms and the choice for its citizens. It was to break the autocratic regimes in the middle east.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postthe thing about 9/11 is that AQ have taken credit for it, they even called out iran for saying that it was a western conspiracy. so what i want to know is why would this group take credit for something they haven't done which has brought hell upon them?
the usual answers are that AQ is western created and used for the benefit of justification for imperialistic adventures in muslim lands. now if this were true then why would the taliban and other groups align themselves with this group and even forsake their country in defense of these people, unless they were the dumbest marks on the planet?

or that AQ didn't take part in 9/11 which has been disproved by ayman zawahiri himself.
The Taliban were well aware the American onslaught was going to come down hard on them. Giving up the AQ leaders was not going to prevent the onslaught. As you can see, Osama is dead, no AQ in Afghanistan, but the Americans are still there. There is also a pashtunwali code called Sayma or nanawatai where if a person asks for refuge and you accept it, you can not give that person to his enemy without evidence that the person has committed the alleged crime and even then you must ensure that the puishment isnt torture.
They did not align themselves with AQ in its war with America, they were more a victim of circumstances with the events unfolding very rapidly.

What motivated the 9/11 hijackers? See testimony most didn't - YouTubeOriginally posted by RevolutionThroughReason View Postdanced around my question; I didn't ask what were the hypothesized causes, I asked who brought it down , I'll be waiting for your intellectually honest reply whenever you decide to enter manhood and get some courage to do so.
