Mian Iftikhar Hussain visited the tomb of the Victor of Maiwand Sardar Muhammad Ayub Khan yesterday( 27th july 2012.) — in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Fatih e Maiwand,Ghazi Mohd Ayub Khan. Ayub khan was brother of amir Yaqub khan and son of Amir Sher Ali khan,kings of Afghanistan.He defeated the british army in the battle field of Maiwand near Kandahar on 27th July, 1880.in this war,Malalei and other women also took part.This was the biggest defeat of British might in Asia.Ayub khan was defeated by Gen Robert and Amir Abdurrahman jointly after a month in the battle of Baba Wali,Kandahar after dessertion of his supporters.He tried to get the power back but could not.He went to Iran where he was fraudulently arrested and handed over to Britishers.He was kept in india where he died in April,1914.He was burried in Shaikh Habib baba graveyard,wazir bagh in Peshawar as desired by him before his death.His shrine is almost unknown to Pakistani Afghans and was once desecrated by theives.All Afghans must pay homage to our great but forgotten national hero.
