22 dead in Kabul hotel attack

[khushal]

When did I said I don't care for their safety??? Although I live in Kabul I have my family that lives in a small village in Kandahar and to tell u the truth they are safer in tht small village than I am here. Just because I live in the city doesn't necessarily mean I'm safer. Everytime I visit my village in Kandahar I forget that Afghanistan has any fighting because of the quietness their. But I have had many incidents that I have been in lock downs or I have been in the same building as a bomb. So i don't know what gave you the impression that I am safer in the city.
If the Afghan gov't weren't corrupt then we wouldn't have american soliders here. Most people in the gov't right now are corrupt and they don't care abt their country. They mostly care about their pocket. They are content with what they have that is why they aren't fighting.

Im glad they are not in these villages:

oh right ...I forgot.....Only the stuff the Taliban can use for propaganda is true ...and the stuff that makes the Taliban looks bd is the stuff that's false

right? ....how convenient.

[Afghanistan2010]

Excatly.

[RevolutionThroughReason]

Excatly.

that's called bias

[khushal]

that's a new line for you, khushal, concern for the american soldiers?
where did that come from all of a sudden?
so while you live safely in america................

This is nothing new. I have always viewed the american soldiers, american tax payers as well as the afghans as victims of this war. I have always said that in many posts. Whats wrong with me living safely in America. There is nothing wrong with you living safely in Australia. Are you jealous. If you ever come to America, let me know, Ill treat you to some freedom fries. They are really good.

[khushal]

yeah, start ranting like an eastern woman, that has set herself on fire to escape a forced marriage. come up with solutions, that khushal and his ilk, haven't got enough brains to do.

immolation increased drastically after the 2001 invasion.

[pakhtana2012]

Some questions:
1) Did you leave Afghanistan in the Russyaan jang era?
2) Humor me, its for the sake of discussion, did your whole family go or just you?
3) What sort of work takes you to Kabul?
4) What did your father do in the presoviet era?

I was born outside of Afg my parents left during the Russians.
My father left and my mother left my dad was the only one to leave from his side and my mom left with her whole family and they met up and got married in AMerica.
As of right now i am still dependent on my father and I came because my dad is working here.
He was a child in the presoviet era my father isn't tht old.

never noticed you support your own yanky soldiers before, so you can't have mentioned it much.
i spent 5 months in the states and had a ball. saw heaps of good bands and hung out with street people, junkies and people i worked with there.
no need for jealousy. why would i be jealous?
america is fun and amazing but it is like a giant nuthouse without walls.
i got on well there
but too stressful for my likings.

So basically

You are mad at the muj era fighters for the duty your father and mine failed to do?

You are talking about how much of a mess they made in Afghanistan, yet you forget that each citizen of a nation state has his own duty. When they are derilect in that duty, they each contribute to the demise of that nation state.

While Mullah Omar, Hekmetyaar, and other men as such were bleeding for their country your father, and mine, were sitting in relative comfort in the West.

No Im sorry but Afghanistan's tortuous recent years have everything to do with the very difference that the founding fathers of our adopted nation demonstrated versus the behavior of the emigre elites of Afghanistan.

Washington and Jefferson were given the chance to lead their insurgency from France but they didnt. Washington suffered defeat after defeat after defeat but stuck it out at the risk of his own neck. Therefore, when the British were routed, he had the right to lead amongst the sons of that soil.

The first person you should be upset with is your own father who left his duty behind so that men from the rural areas had to go and fight the war for him.

Is it your expectation that Karzai and others can simply sit on the sidelines while everyone else does the heavy lifting, and that they can then come back in and ask to lead the very people they abandoned?

It would be like if Texas was invaded and the elites like Bush ran away leaving the common folks and the baptist preachers to fight that war. Would it then be Bush's right to come back and in and ask for izaat and ishtiraum?

And for that matter, why is he not working here in his adopted nation state helping to build the country that took him in? Is it his right to utilize tax dollars in a war of attrition?

[faye]

i was hoping that was sarcasm.
just dismissing women, because they are concerned for women, with the labelling of 'feminist', is total bs.

if it is not sarcasm, then you need to show some respect for an organisation of women, by women, that has been actively helping afghans in afghanistan and pakistan for about 30 years. (as far as i recall)

In his defense, He was being sarcastic. He was pointing out that people who lambast these sources as Western or feminist end up using them all the same. He is ignoring complexities again as the Ann Wright article shows decisively that even Amnesty Interational is agenda prone and that the times change the agenda accordingly.

yes i am mad bcz this country is in pieces. My dad is working for the US Army here and we are planning to move back at the end of this yr. My expectation is tht now that this country is ruined that we all clean it up. My heart hurts for the fact tht most of the people here are blaming the mess on each other but no one has the initiative to pick it up. The only thing i hear it the pashtuns did this and the hazaras did that and the tajiks did that but we are still divided as a country. My dad wasn't an elite when he left. He was a common person. I am not mad at the mujahideen I am mad at every afghan because I want to help this country but first of all im too young im only 18 and second of all this country will never get better if the pashtuns like us and the hazaras and the tajiks and the uzbeks don't become one. And instead of all the u are this and I am that we all call each others afghans and quit fighting.

good, he had me worried there for a minute

dear, i haven't a clue who these people are that you mention. i don't need all these ann wrights and michael scheurers to analyse situations for me and tell me what to think.
i like to do a lot of exploration and try to suss things out myself.
nobody has all the info on anything really. even if you are on the spot, it is still like that blindfolded elephant touch up. each has an idea of what is reality or truth.
