  • Taliban to ban polio vaccinations for children until US stops drone strikes

A Taliban leader in Pakistan said that until the United States stops drone strikes—like the one that killed al-Qaida no. 2 Abu Yahya al-Libi earlier this month—it will ban polio vaccinations of Pakistani children in the region it controls.

"Polio drops will be banned in North Waziristan until the drones strikes are stopped," Taliban commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur said in a statement released Saturday and published Monday by CNN. "Almost every resident of North Waziristan has become a mental patient because of the drone strikes, which are worse than polio. On one hand, the U.S. spends millions of dollars to eliminate polio, while on the other hand it kills hundreds with the help of its slave, Pakistan."

UNICEF had been hoping to launch a drive this week to vaccinate 161,000 children in the region. Bahadur said he consulted with leaders of the Taliban and al-Qaida and with Punjabi leaders before making the decision to ban the vaccinations.

Pakistan's vaccination program came under scrutiny after a Pakistani doctor accused of helping the CIA locate Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad under the guise of the "door-to-door" program was sentenced to 33 years in prison for "acting against the state."

The announcement, the New York Times said, is "a blow to polio vaccination efforts in Pakistan, which is one of just three countries where the disease is still endemic and which accounted for 198 new cases last year—the highest rate in the world."

But it's doubtful that the warning will affect U.S. drone strikes. The White House has increased its drone operations under President Barack Obama. The Pakistani government has objected to the drone strikes, saying they are "a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty."

using his own peoples health as a bargaining chip? smart guy...
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

          Thinking ( ??? ) process of a wannabe Talib :

          Premise : US is Evil.
Inference: It cripples our kids by drone strikes.

          ...
          ..

          ...
          ....
          .....
          ......

Conclusion: The Evil Amreekkans will stop the drone strikes if we help them out by crippling our own kids by denying them the polio vaccine !!

Drone strikes have killed thousands of civilians, mostly women and children.

These polio vaccination teams (mostly NGOs) are now seen as spies abusing children and not actually giving proper medical treatment.

Im sure Islamic Red Crescent is still allowed to operated within the region, probably under a lot of scrutiny.

Yeah, running fake vaccination programs, how ethical??

Surprised that the taliban apologists have not said that this is fake or that this guy is not from the area, or that this guy is an actor, or etc etc excuses, excuses......

Drone strikes do kill women and children so do retaliation blasts bythese cowards who want me to die for their Islam but themselves hide in caves or in bungalows in the cool hills. But drones have killed pollution in the name of humanity and there is no doubt about that.... This pollution is also responsible for killing innocents but the cowards who find excuses for their heros will not mention that... Good riddance!!!

We support the killing of this pollution and hope for the day we get rid of all those losers who have no purpose in life other than terrorizing others!

Islamic Red Crescent and Red Cross are still active there, so in reality this news was only about the Western backed NGOs.

I can't believe that some people are actually justifying this. How can we trust our country's future with such ignorant people?? Half of our children woul be sent on suicide missions and the other half disabled due to stupid ideas like this. WTF??
Maybe if you did my act like such a fool and did not **** around with the future of innocent people, it would not have had come to the poit where NATO would bomb your villages and mentally disturb whatever is left of it. May e I you were not so selfish and stubborn like a freaking animal without any common sense, it would have not reached that point.
I have a family member who is affected by polio and I know they there is nothing out there that I wouldn't have done for him, had I been given the chance to change that for him. And when brainwashed, mentally disturbed people who have never been educated about the benefits of vaccination, refuse to treat their children with it, it's unfortunate but understanding. When you idiots who have probably not missed one single shot of it in your lives decide that the children who are born, raised and living in a war zone of a country should do with out it, I don't understand you. Are you seriously do self centered that for the sake of your own egos and the fact that you are against NATO bombing your country, you are willing to agree with whatever the **** these fools choose for those innocent afghans?? That selfish??
One who deprives the other of their basic rights, does not deserve any himself. Individuals who choose to behave like animals, do not deserve to be treated like human beings.
And then you go around, waving your hands in air with your "Zma loya gunah daa dey chi pukhtoon yum.."
At times like this, I feel ashamed of being an afghan.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

No, typical Taliban thinking would be to "increase the killings of innocent americans in america via terrorist attacks, this will stop the Amreekans from killing innocent Afghans as they too will feel how it feels for their civilians being murdered"

not saying i agree, but its food for thought.

Indeed, they use NGO's and such projects as proxies to hunt down either soldiers of the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan or TTP.

As i said, the Islamic emirate see the Pakistani government and army as the Afghan government and army, both are puppets/apostates,the same for all the other governments ruled by so called muslims.

Remember what Hitlers error was when he started a war with soviets ?

Think about, afghans must settle first their issue, than the issues of others.
