U.S. helicopter believed shot down in Afghanistan; 2 killed

    By the CNN Wire Staff
    June 6, 2012 -- Updated 1434 GMT (2234 HKT)

    STORY HIGHLIGHTS
    • Official: A Kiowa Warrior helicopter went down over Ghazni province
    • Two U.S. troops were killed
    • The Taliban claims responsibility

(CNN) -- The U.S. believes one of its armed helicopters was shot down over Afghanistan on Wednesday, killing both crew members on board, a U.S. military official said.
"It is likely that the helo today was brought down due to enemy small arms and RPG fire," the official said. The chopper was a U.S. Army OH-58 Kiowa Warrior reconnaissance helicopter. It went down over Ghazni province.
In a statement, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the downing of the helicopter, saying a rocket was used.
"After the rocket hit it, the helicopter came down and took fire," said an e-mail sent by Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid.

well it's a western source and just a commentary according to Lynx and Khushal, so it didn't actually happen.

Well, its a pattern and that seems to have been the MO to just always say it is technical problems or bad weather or a combination of sorts. The reason for this is to shield the negative news from the public (happened in regards to Vietnam war too). The media is usually aware of this, but has to go by what the press releases say.

Wikileaks was major in revealing this

But these Sources all come from the American military so we can't trust them since they're just commentaries with no evidence.

So as far as we know, Taliban downing helicopters never happened.

perhaps they are over hyping the taliban threat in order to justify their presence in afghanistan!
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

why would they be overlhyping the taliban threat when they are withdrawing their combat forces. They would do that when they are making plans to increase troop presence not decrease. We all know the latter is the case here.

What are you talking about. there is a helicopter downed, two dead bodies, not only did the americans acknowledged it but also the taliban. both sides acknowledged.

your tryin to compare that a commentary with no evidence by one racist hazara has merit and compare it to this.

I doubt the Taliban took it down... they are champions at killing civilians. I doubt they can touch an American.

These crashes have been rather frequent. Just go to PressTv, and look at Afghanistan news section and keep going back.

Two US-led soldiers killed in Afghanistan helicopter crash

Second NATO copter crashes in eastern Afghanistan

it was sarcasm, my friend. people like lynx believe western stories when it suits them but then denounce them when it doesn't as "western propoganda"

though my post was sarcasm, hyping a taliban threat would not exactly be unheard of. its perfect justification for maintaining military bases in the country for years to come just as they have planned. in fact, this is the reason they have been hyping a nearly dead AQ for the last few years, or the iran threat or whatever justification they want or need.

where's proof that this helicopter and dead bodies exist .. wouldn't that make it a commentary too?

and yes Randolph has it right, we're being sarcastic to demonstrate how idiotic most of your counter responses are when evidence is presented to you and you constantly lame excuses like "oh it's a western source" etc. etc. etc. or invent some ridiculous red herring about commentaries.

If you want to texas sharp shoot and change goal posts to the most ridiculously unrealistic scenario. so can others This is what happens when you argue from the vantage point of stupidity; it boomerangs on you.

egg-friggan-actly; Since Khushal's so fixated on invented elaborate conspiracy theories about disinformation. He should be the first to admit the plausibility of trying to play off this troop withdrawal scheme for another even better geopoltical plan. Since when do conspiracies need logic? That's the whole point, to throw everyone off the trail!
