  • Tribesmen seek Fata merger with KP

PESHAWAR, May 21: The tribal people from Khyber Agency have supported the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s unanimous resolution regarding Fata representation in the provincial assembly and demanded its merger with settled areas.

Notables and elders from Khyber Agency at a peace conference held here at Nishtar Hall on Monday through a unanimous resolution said that merger of Federally Administered Tribal Area (Fata) with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was need of the hour and in the larger interest of the people of the two regions.

The peace conference was organised to commemorate the death anniversary of four family members of MNA Allama Noorul Haq Qadri who were a

Yes, we consider this to be an absolutely necessary step towards eventual integration of Pashtuns.

Integration into Pakistan, good thing or bad? I mean in terms of the interests of pashtuns and their identity.

No, we look at it as Pashtun integration----FATA and tribal divisions/identities have always weakened (Pashtun) nation building. First let the tribes to be dissolved into local structures; local structures can then merge into broader unity.

Just about everyday brings new bad news for the pashtoons of Fata, but this time plans are under way for blotting out our identity by the establishment while using its corrupt mouthpieces - the Fata parliamentarians, who do not represent the will of the Fata pashtoons.

the procedure for electing Fata Parliamentarians, particularly the electoral procedure for senate whereby the Fata parliamentarians are elected, is nothing more than an anomaly. in pakistan, the massive horse-trading in the senate elections that involves millions if not billions of rupees, very shamefully, is synonymous to Fata parliamentarians. In the recent election this year, a Fata parliamentarian made an unbreakable record for selling cheapest his favour for a few lac rupees in the parliamentary history of pakistan.

therefore the Fata parliamentarians are no more than a bunch of opportunist dummies, and it would not surprise you ever to see these parliamentarian always involve, now in this way, now in that way, in something most shameful. recently the Fata dummies/parliamentarians, who never represent us, hv demanded that Fata should be made a separate province with a name - i'm not joking - "QABAILISTAN". these ignorant dummies called parliamentarians don't know that the people of Fata are pashtoons with 1000s years of history and civilization. in the earlier days of the 16th century when there was no America and Canada, and when London was a town where Shakespeare had not yet born, a philosopher, poet, freedom-fighter, and religious scholar from Fata's South Waziristan, Pir Rokhan, was writing masterpieces in pashto. now those who enriched the pashtoon culture, history, and civilization have currently no identity and they are called "qabail". before the rosy colonialism of Britain we even didn't know what the hell was meant by "Qabail", but then the British colonialists created Fata out of nowhere and called the pashtoons living in this newly created administration as "qabail", and v took it for our identity.

we must vehemently oppose the creation of anything at the expense of our pashtoon identity. we r pashtoons. v r not going to sacrifice or bargain our identity. for Fata parliamentarians to serve their shameful opportunism and establishment there r so many other ways too. they can try them - but not the one which means the ruthless effacement of our identity.

The above is how young generation of Pashtuns feel about FATA and the various conspiracies hatched to retain FATA and keep Pashtuns divided. This is by young female student from FATA.

If ANP governament is able to merge FATA with KP, then it would be their historical achievement....many voices within FATA are against. The next step should be merger of 13 pashtun districts of balochistan with KP.
There is no police, no court in FATA. When some one commits murder in our areas, he runs to neighbouring waziristan. I went to razmak waziristan in 1998 , on our way to castle i saw a body of kid shattered into bloody pieces, my head swirled. We were told that two local tribes are fighting with each other and they are using freaking rocket launchers for fights and the boy was victem of one of the rocket. I was just a small boy and i was not forgetting image of that dead body, and then there were contineous noises of fight between tribes during my three day day. one or two rockets landed on castle. Worst experience.

If FATA merges with KP ,then it would benefit their people..curruntly no one knows where the funds for FATA goes. If you are fearing that pashtuns of FATA would lose their pashtun-ness, become pakified...then you should know that they were not living in some isolated prison like region for last 60 years. They were here and there in KP and rest of pakistan. For education they study on quota seats in instituations throughout pakistan. If you go to DI khan, its full of wazir and mehsuds, bannu has large number of wazirs, kohat and peshawer has afridis and so on. They were never sitting idle, they are doing businesses across country. dont worry they are strong pashtuns.
