    ONLINE 4 hrs ago | 3 Comments

In his messages posted on social networking website ‘Twitter’ on Wednesday, Khan condemned what he said government “NRO” with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
“PTI opposes reopening of Nato supply route and will plan appropriate action,” Khan wrote. He said “we dismiss all government measures which prove fatal for innocent people and stabilize war against terror”
He said that Pakistani people had been paying the cost with their blood for the war which didn’t belong to them.
Khan said “PTI holds government, which is shamelessly busy in offering assistance in the war, responsible for the killing of people”.
“War on terror has caused losses of over 73 billion dollars to economy, polarised social fabric of Pakistan and killed over 40,000 Pakistanis,” Imran Khan said.

You have made a point which some very few people seem to ignore.

Imran Khan has taken a wise move to go against the Army-Government, and end the support for this NATO war.

He has the support of the people (majority), and this is now why he has decided to face them head on.

It was a risk because they could try to threaten him.. but I think he has taken that into account.

ISLAMABAD, May 15: The Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) has announced that it will resist any move to restore Nato supplies, saying the entire nation is united against such a decision.
The DPC has decided to hold a meeting in Lahore on May 19 to chalk out its plan for action, while the opposition PML-N has also voiced concern over the government’s plans to reopen the supply routes.
Talking to Dawn, Lt-Gen (retd) Hamid Gul, a senior member of the DPC, said the government was bent upon dividing the nation and creating a state of anarchy through civil war. “We will not go for any violent agitation, but we will continue to inform the masses about truth and create awareness.”
He said the government was making lame excuses that the country could not survive economically or stand at the international forum without resuming the Nato supplies.
“These are falsified statements based on personnel agenda of policymakers,” he said, adding, “The masses are fed up wit imperialistic policies of the United States and they are looking towards the DPC to take the lead.”
Hamid Gul said the US had gone back on its earlier commitment to withdrawing forces from Afghanistan by 2014. It now said military engagements in that country would continue for a long time. Jamaatud Dawa, a main component of the DPC, said any agreement with the US on resumption of Nato supplies would not be acceptable to the nation and the council would launch a peaceful movement against the move.
“Time demands resistance from the entire nation as the Americans are responsible for all economic and social woes in the region,” a spokesman for Jamaatud Dawa said. He said the US should be made accountable for human rights violations committed by its forces in Afghanistan and other Muslim countries.
A statement issued by the DPC said that aiding the aggressive US and Nato forces in their designs against Afghanistan and its Muslim population was religiously forbidden.
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PML-N stalwart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said in a TV interview that his party was against the move to resume Nato supplies.
“This is a shameful act and a sign of retreat for the entire nation,” he Nisar said, adding that if the government continued to move ahead with this agenda, his party would contact other parties and resist the move.
Chaudhry Nisar said the reopening of supply routes would be violation of a resolution adopted by parliament last month on new terms of engagements with the US.

The word is now that PTI, DPC, PML-N will physically block the supply lines

This appears to be the moment where there is a power shift.

                  DPC has become very powerful

No decision regarding NATO supply resumption yet: Kaira

Federal Information Minister, Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira has informed media that no decision regarding resumption of NATO supply has, so far, been made. Briefing the media after the meeting of the federal cabinet, he assured that all would be accomplished within the framework of National interest(s), and there would be no compromise over National integrity, ever. He assured that the Nation would not be kept in dark about the issue(s), while full prudence and responsibility would be practiced in making the decision. He also announced that Pakistan had been unconditionally invited to the NATO’s Chicago moot. Deliberating over other aspects of the federal cabinet meeting, he said that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani also took the cabinet into confidence over the verdict of Supreme Court, besides detailing about his recent UK visit. The Prime Minister also congratulated Syed Khurshid Shah and others over holding a successful PPP public rally, while he also informed the cabinet meeting regarding his contacts with opposition elements over the appointment of a new election commissioner. The Federal cabinet meeting was prioritized into a one-unit agenda of power sector (energy crisis), during which a ‘comprehensive stock’ regarding the issue was deliberated. Federal Petroleum Minister, Dr. Asim Hussain, Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafiz Sheikh, and Minister of Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar also briefed the cabinet in their respective fields. Among many decisions approved by the cabinet, included were full assistance to energy sector, which also included formation of an energy committee, comprising of Finance, water and Power, Petroleum and information ministers, and additional participation of Governor State Bank and deputy chairman planning. Crackdown on electricity theft would also be carried out with due assistance of interior ministry, while Rs158 billion of outstandings owed by Provincial governments and various governmental departments to WAPDA were also considered by the federal cabinet.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani prime minister has said the country has yet to decide on the issue of restoring ground supply lines to Nato troops in Afghanistan; however, a decision would be announced as soon as talks between different ministries and officials conclude.
“We have directed the concerned ministries and departments to conclude the process as soon as possible,” Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani told reporters on Thursday after attending an event here in Islamabad.
The final decision would depend on the outcome of ongoing talks, said PM Gilani.
Moreover, the prime minister said that the invitation by Nato sent to President Asif Ali Zardari to attend the Chicago summit was an ‘unconditional’ one.
Meanwhile, in a statement also on Thursday, the Foreign Office said that a final decision on reopening the routes will be taken in the best national interest of the country.
Pakistan has engaged with United States to resolve all pending issues, said Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Ali Khan, adding that the government would abide by the recommendations of the parliament both “in letter and spirit”.
Pakistan closed its border to Nato supplies in November last year in protest over American airstrikes that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers at the Salala checkpost near the Pak-Afghan border.
The government is likely to face domestic backlash once the supplies resume, partly because the Obama administration refused to apologise for last year’s attack and stop drone strikes in the country as demanded by Pakistan’s parliament.
Religious leaders on Thursday threatened to block the supply route if it does reopen, but it’s unclear how successful they would be.
