US threat open insult to people, parliament: JI chief

    LAHORE

AMEER Jamaat e Islami Syed Munawwar Hasan said US Senator John Kerry’s threat of unilateral action if Islamabad did not extend cooperation in the so called war on terror was an open insult to the people of Pakistan and the parliament.

Addressing JI central workshop at Mansoorah on Sunday, he said that political and military leadership of the country seemed to have succumbed to the US pressure and was keen on restoring Nato supplies because of which Washington was threatening this country.

He said that Pakistan had played a key role in the war and had extended all possible facilities to the US, which had even ruined its economy. However, at this crucial moment, the US had sidelined Pakistan and had settled its matters with Afghanistan directly.

He said that the US had not given any importance to the parliament’s resolution and flatly refused to tender any apology on the Silala check post and stop drone attacks. He said instead of facing the US pressure tactfully, the rulers seemed to have lost courage. The solidarity of the country was at stake while the rulers were busy in strengthening their rule.

The need of the hour, he said, was that the government began a campaign at diplomatic front against the violations of its territory in the light of the UN charter and sought support of China and other friendly countries and also stop begging from Washington. The US attitude towards this country, he said was most insulting. It had turned down the parliament’s demand for an apology on the Silala attack, Pakistan had not been invited to Chicago conference despite its sacrifices in the war on terror in total disregard of its huge sacrifices during the war.

Syed Munawwar Hasan said that the present rulers had brought disgrace to the country and the nation because of their undemocratic attitude, loot and plunder, disregard of the judiciary and their begging bowl before the world. The nation would have to get rid of these rulers in order to march on the path of progress and prosperity and to regain its due place in the world comity.
