  • Alleged spies say Iran’s Revolutionary Guards trained them

KABUL (PAN): Afghan security forces have detained two individuals in Kabul on charges of spying for Iran and remote-controlled bomb devices were recovered from them.
Syed Kamal and Syed Hussain confessed in a video tape, available to Pajhwok Afghan News, to having links with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. Kamal said he migrated to Iran in 1996 and joined a military base of the Sipah-i-Pasdaran for training.
The same year when the mujahideen government was toppled by the Taliban, the Iranian government tasked him creating a party of Afghan refugees in Iran under the name of “Sipah-i-Mohammad.”
He said they went to Mashhad to register Afghan refugees for training by the Iranian military. On completion of training, the Afghans were sent to their home country for disruptive activities, he added.
“As a member of Sipah-i-Mohmmad, I was sent to northern Takhar province for military activities in 2000. I came to Kabul after the collapse of the Taliban regime,” the detainee said.
About two months ago, Kamal said, a member of the group, Haji Mohsin, handed him a bag including four remote-controlled devices. The devices had multiple functions, including the one that could detonate 10 bombs at a time from a distance of five kilometres.
“One of the tools with an electronic eye disables devices in the military vehicles used to defuse remote-controlled bombs,” he revealed, adding the tools were made exclusively by a weapons factory of the Sipah-i-Pasdaran.
“When the Iranian military took us to the factory, they asked us to wear sunglasses so we could not properly recognise where the training centre was located,” he went on.
“Currently, the Revolutionary Guards recruit young people for terrorist activities in Afghanistan and try to revive the Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan led by Gulbadin Hekmatyar and Taliban groups,” he alleged.
Kamal claimed militants, including Afghans, Palestinians, Iraqis and Lebanese, were being trained at military training centres on the outskirts of Mashhad, Khash area of Zahidan, Tarbat Jam and some areas in Tehran.
He was encouraged by being told the US had brought misfortune to Iraqis and Palestinians and wanted to bring the same to Afghanistan, another detainee, Syed Hussain, confessed in the video tape.
He would transfer secret documents from Kabul to Mashhad, with Iran paying the delivery cost, he said.
He recalled two persons --- Herati and Hussaini, gave him a tin of ghee and a television set in the Company area of Kabul. Later, the pair came to his house in Khushal Khan Mina and starting making a bomb from the explosives placed the tin and wires and a remote-controlled device in the TV set.
Later, the two planted the remote-controlled bomb on a road in the area, but the device was defused by security personnel, he added. Both the detainees regretted their past activities.
On Sunday, Afghan journalist Abdul Wahid Hakimi, working with the state-run Iranian news agency, was detained by intelligence operatives on charges of spying. The detainee was transferring secret documents to the Iranian embassy in Kabul

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Poor Afghans not only have to deal with the international headache Pakistan, but Iran as well at times.

Pakistan and Iran have certainly been interfering in Afghanistan by recognizing the puppet Karzai regime, and by doing so, the NATO occupation which props up the Karzai regime in Kabul.

Pakistan has been bullying Afghanistan by permitting supply lines to NATO/Karzai, which allows the NATO war/Karzai regime to go on. Is this not a fact?

Isnt this a some type of comedy? I mean lets see, we have a puppet Karzai regime propped up by the foreign NATO occupation, sitting in Kabul, terming anyone who is opposed to the occupation as spies and foreign proxies - how utterly ridiculous !!!

I guess Malalai Joya is a Communist spy because she opposes the NATO war/ occupation.

I guess Dr. Miraki is an evil Pakistani agent because he too opposes the NATO war/ occupation, but Karzai is a true nationalist. Karzai is more nationalistic thant Ahmad Shah Baba and Mirwais neeka.

Yes, Karzai is a nationalist because he supports the NATO war/occupation of Afghanistan....................................... .

      NOT

Oh well looks like it wont load, but take a good look at the link. Open it up and absorb the image.

So now, to those that are too lazy to click on the link, what the Al Jazeera image shows is a ring of purposeful encirclement that is a noose surrounding Iran. This noose has been tightening since the 80s.

Lets step inside the head of the Svak or the Iranian Intelligence and see what they might be thinking:

          1. Since the Ayatollah's uprise and successful overthrow of the Western backed Shah Iran has been a persona nongrata that has been deftly and nimbly utilizing as many diplomatic and cooperative tools at hand to survive. Survive what?
          A. A subsequent Saddam era decimating war that Saddam stupidly walked into (he managed to kill many many Iranians)
          B. A series of interventions in friendly states (Lebanon in the 80s, currently into Syria) to diminish its ally driven strength.

          2. Repeated threats to their autonomy in the form of stuxnet, support for the Green movement, Arab centric threats to assist aerial bombardment by opening up fly zone columns for Israel, Israeli sabre ratteling and attempting to force America into another war.

So now, despite Iran having a degree of benefit from the current order... e.g. their contracts in the Afghan West to rebuild certains areas and aid in shrine reconstruction (for instance the Sher e Surkh shrine in my ancestoral village was rebuilt by Iranians while Sherzai was in power in Kandahar)... the Iranians see a ring of fire all around them.

So now, my friend, tell me, what should one expect of the Iranians?

If Kennedy nearly sent the world into nuclear war over the Bay of Pigs leading to the missile Crises and if Kennedy based this on the hundreds year old Monroe Doctrine concept (i.e. no power dare enter America's hemisphere or influence it) why would any of you think that independent and sovereign nations in other areas would react differently? If Kennedy didnt cook a post roast for the Russians on his doorstep in a slightly irrelevent island nation and offer them green tea, what makes anyone think that with the evidence at hand that the Iranians would act any differently? Kennedy got himself into that hot mess when he backed Cuban Emigres and Exiles and then followed this up with Operation Mongoose. The Iranians main provocations have been in backing their own strong men. Yet this sort of brazen agency driven action has increased due to putting a stick in the beehive.

The notion that Iran will just sit by as Afghan emigre elites and local strong men pull the US into protecting their frail and horribly corrupt regime with bases tradeoff is both naive and dangerously foolish.

Basically this government in Kabul is making a series of blunders that mirror that bygone era in which Afghan Kings and Lawmakers thought themselves as strong enough to use both the US and Russia to counterbalance eachother and local nations. They thought themselves brilliant chess players and then complained, moaned, and cried big cow tears when these powers tore up the board.

The usual sputtering response from one of these Afghan Government Reps is:
"We are a sovereign nation and we can invite anyone we please into our country... sovereign nations can do so!"

          Oh really? Remember this fiasco?:
          http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Middl...ught-the-beast

Remember the "Beast of Kandahar"? That stealth bomber style drone that violated Iranian airspace and took off from Afghan soil?
If this is not a provocation and complete proof of a lack of sovereignty, then I dont know what is.
And the word "sovereign" meant nothing to Kennedy as it will mean little if nothing to Iran as truly sovereign nation states will not tolerate active threats against their autonomy.

Basically, Iran has seen the number of threats made against it economically, via the internet, and militarily begin to multiply. As the Afghan government has been stupid enough to think that it can play the counter balance game and somehow reap some semblance of true superstardom and super power status and autonomy, it has endangered the region and the world. Instead of limiting Iran's interventionism, it has all but gauranteed covert and even overt action. The latter would occur in the disasterous situation of an Israeli spearheaded attack on Iran and the former is occuring as we can see already.

Any conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, between Iran and Afghanistan, between Iran and Pakistan, between Syria and Iran, between Libya and France, etc is really not the place for the US to be.

So no my friend, I think its the average American citizen and soldier child that deserves the right to ask: Why cant the Afghan government not use us as some sort of counterbalance chip in this game that they have lost with disasterous results for all in the past? And they can also ask the governing elites here in DC in the parties here about why they get themselves into these irrevelent situations that decrease our national security in the first place?

The simple response of: Let the US and Iran harm eachother to their heart's content is brash and makes no sense since the outcome is bad for everyone, especially neighboring nation states who will get a bad taste of blowback when and if Iran decided to retaliate.
