the thing is I feel sorry for these people, they are recruited from the poorest areas of southern punjab, even kidnapped some times to fight. These guys are not your regular ISI or army people, they are poor villagers most of the time

I think yes there is insufficient proof that he is a Punjabi. However even if he is a Punjabi, there being one Punjabi will not prove that the entire Taliban movement consists solely of Punjabis. I hope thats not the point you wish to make?

I think we need to rid ourselves of this ethnic divide and stop thinking of each other race as a potential enemy. It is driving well wishers to Pashtuns from other races away and it just makes people who insult Punjabis, tajiks and everyone else seem like bigots. That is no more or no less fanatical than the terrorist sympathizers. How can we blame an entire race for violence. Its very similar to what some ignorant well fed madams above 100 Kg claim... that Pashtuns are terrorists. Here we are doing the same thing and labeling a race terrorist.

I mean there must have been some problem, some thing that has led to the Taliban being present in Pashtun areas and dominating them than in other parts of the country. Why are the Taliban in Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Kandahar, FATA and Pakhtunkhwa? Why Pashtun regions?

I think its also because Pashtuns have never thought openly and critically. We are bombarded with one way of thinking. Of course lets not forget the Pakistani center has made FATA offlimits and inaccessable to the rest of the population. With little outside contact these people were bound to become intolerant in many cases.

New reports say 50% of all terrorism these days originates from KP & Fata. All Pakistanis, Afghans or Pashtuns need to start looking within to learn from their mistakes.

Pashtusn are very open minded and have more selfcriticism than you will ever have but they arent stupid and see clearly who their friends and foes are.
No need for your type of people to have acces to pashtun regions.

I have access to Pashtun regions. I'm an ex journalist with contacts in the right places + I was a community leader. I have a few personal issues which I wouldn't like to name which have caused me not to go. Otherwise as the book is about these regions it was in my interests to go there.
