Where was Ahmad Shah Durrani born?
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

A few things support the Multan theory. One is that his father was in a fued with Abdullah Khan, the local sardar, and was a marked man. The key confirmed aspect of his birth is that his father was dead before his birth, giving credence to the fact that the family fled. Its unlikely that his mother would have been bought back.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postmany sources have either herat or multan has his birthplace, is there any concrete evidence for either of these cities?
The other is that Tarikh e Ahmad Shah directly documents that Ahmad Shah joined hands with his kinsmen left behind there in his expeditions. The Herat proposal arose during the middle of the last century. The detractors of the theory also point to Terikh e Ahmad Shahi being silent on a Multan birth but they cannot produce an actual statement of his birth either. Remember the Tarikh is a historical log of his kingship and was written by his royal scribe during his tenure as badshah. Their reference simply is to his father's role in Herat before the Ghilzai were able to push the Abdali out of that region in Mir Wais's time. But Ahmad Shah's father received this leadership role subsequently when he returned from Multan.
So once again, the only thing the Tarikh is not silent on is the utility of having a Popalzai contingent in Multan to utilize during raids on India.Last edited by BarakzaiAbdali; 03-05-2012, 09:04 PM."2 crackheads don't become any better or stronger by sharing the same crack pipe." - Greatest PF quote

"Vadda Ghallughara—the Great Killing
After Panipat the main factor to reckon with was the growing power of the Sikhs who had constantly been assailing Ahmad Shah's lines of communication. It was against them that the Afghan invader's sixth expedition (1762) was specifically directed. News had reached him in Afghanistan of the defeat, after his withdrawal from the country, of his general, Nur ud-Din Bamezai, at the hands of the Sikhs who were fast spreading themselves out over the Punjab and had declared their leader, Jassa Singh Ahluvalia, king of Lahore (1761). To rid his Indian dominions of them once for all, he set out from Qandahar. Marching with alacrity, he overtook the Sikhs as they were withdrawing into the Malva after crossing the Sutlej. The moving caravan comprised a substantial portion of the total Sikh population and contained, besides active fighters, a large body of old men,
women and children who were being escorted to the safety of the interior of the country. Surprised by Ahmad Shah, the Sikhs threw a cordon round those who needed protection, and prepared for the battle. Continuing their march in this form, they fought the invaders and their Indian allies desperately. Ahmad Shah succeeded, in the end, in breaking through the ring and glutted his spite by carrying out a fullscale butchery. Near the village of Kup, near Malerkotia, nearly 25,000 Sikhs were killed in a single day's battle (5 February 1762), known in Sikh history as Vadda Ghallughara, the Great Killing. But the Sikhs were by no means crushed.

Ive read Sikh history books and the numbers and accounts certainly seems inflated, but thats the case with all historical accounts they tend to be biased
Having said that, I completely understand why our heroes may be villians to others
Sultan Mahmud and Ahmad Shah Baba are held in the highest esteem in Afghanistan but are despised by Indians
The Hotaks who overthrew the Safavids are heroes in our eyes, but the Persians recall them for their brutality

My friend this is no fairy tale. 25,000 to 30,000 Sikhs (a large part of the Sikh population - including women, children and old men) were massacred that day by Abdali. He also allowed a very big massacre in Delhi when he conquered that city. Most of the victims were Muslims.Originally posted by Manzareh View PostBharati which fairy tale did you copy and paste that from. state your source.
Its unfortunate that you are never taught these things in your history lessons. We know such things happened in history in most parts of the world. Pashtuns are still good people.

yes I do find that difficult to believe! I think it is only that Mughal forces in total (all over their empire) numbered many hundreds of thousands (including civilian camp followers during battles) at their peak and not that 48 were fighting 1 million at one battle.Originally posted by badmash_khel View PostLook at this fairytale from Sikhs

In Delhi, I believe the victims were mainly Muslims because I think at that particular time Hindus were mostly not allowed to live in the city. That's what I read in an article published in a Pakistani newspaper. I will try to find it later and reference it here.Originally posted by randolph85 View Post^ do you have sources that most of his victims were muslims?

Muslim rule in Hindustan witnessed a continuous power struggle between the Afghan/Pashtuns and the Mughal/Uzbek/Tajiks. That struggle continues in modern Afghanistan between the Pashtuns and the Northern Alliance.Originally posted by Wahe Guru View PostIn Delhi, I believe the victims were mainly Muslims because I think at that particular time Hindus were mostly not allowed to live in the city. If killing people makes a King a criminal then id say about 99.9% of all kings from the beggining of time were criminals and still are. Includes yours aswel.----------

Have you not heard of the miracle that Moses parted the Red Sea and saved the Jews from the Egyptians?Originally posted by roadrunner View Postthere have been reports by sikhs that sikhs used to fight and defeat other armies after having their heads chopped off. the above is not just one incident of this exagerration.
God can create miracles. I am sure roadrunner, you do not doubt the power of God to do such miracles when He chooses to do so?
