It had never worked and instead all those Mohamdzai and Barakzai tribes became Dari-speakers and at the end it caused more damage to Afghanistan and specially to Pashtuns than to anyone. Majority of Pashtuns want Taliban. You can not make them understand they are dangerous people, they are servants of ISI and other criminals (US, PAK, Israel....). The case with NA is that they are highly anti-Taliban and support democracy and a federal system, most of all Dostum. But some selfish losers who today sit in the West fear he could lose power and the monopoly of power. If they had all the powers what are they doing in the West? The idea of federalism is highly regarded as a positive step, undermined with a parlamentarian government. Majority of analysts and civilians are for federalism which is obviously better than Taliban, current government etc. We had tribalism, we had monarchy, we had socialism, we had warlordism, we had Talibanism and Al-Qaidism ... not much remained. So, let´s step to the next which is federalism. Taliban and the currenz government are the worsest enemy of the civilians. People do not make wars because it´s and adventure for them but because something is going wrong in the state. Maybe oppression or maybe marginalization of a specific group. The past wars we had were because of oppression and tyranny, ironically by Dari-speaking Pashtuns.
Thank you for showing us your true color. Could not expect any better from a fascit person like you, what I don't understand is what the hell are you doing here on PASHTUN FORUMS that you find pashtun selfish and so bad. Your so rascist no wonder nobody likes you. I am Pashtun and I ma not a fan of taliban, but NA Massoud and other phedophile criminals that you worship are not better, just becuase they are not pashtun you like them so much, thats really sad and then you say we pashtun are ethnocetric and want everything for us.
If pashtun were fascit like you and all your darizaban peopel everybody would speak pashto and dari would be forgotten. But we didn't do that.

Let's look at things from an Islamic perspective because Islam is the doctorine which Taliban claim to follow.
Let's assume for the sake of argument that Taliban control upto 90% of Afghanistan in the future and are in control and they see mosques being closed down in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan by Russian puppet governments. Do you think Taliban will simply ignore that? What is the reason Taliban gave sanctuary to the Uzbek fighters? Isn't it islamic duty of muslims to help their oppressed muslim brothers? Doesn't Saudi want to spread the Talib style ideology to central asia.

If we look at the evolution of the Taliban movement. At the begining it was a grass roots movement which started when some local commander abused some young girl and Mullah Omar and his fellows punished the commander and gained popularity. Mullah Zaeef in his book himself mentions that Taliban had no concrete plans to rule the country but as they gained more power their ambitions grew. First kandahar, then Herat, then Kabul and so on. The taste of power is very sweet and once you have, its hard to let go. If Taliban control all of Afghanistan and Mullah Omar becomes Amir ul Momineen, what makes you think he will stop there? Wouldn't it be his islamic duty to help fellow muslims in neighbouring countries who are held hostage by puppet and corrupt regimes? The only thing stoping TAliban from doing that is their resouces. Otherwise they would have done it a long time ago. There are people among TAliban and their affiliated groups who believe they are the army of the "Black flags of Khorasan" who will liberate jeruslam. lol and you think they will only be content with Afghansitan?

We can agree that Saudi and othe backers of Deobandi and salafi brand of Islam want to counter the Iranian shia brand of Islam and Taliban are a perfect tool for that. Things have changed since 2001 and many Taliban and Al Qaeeda and uzbek fighters have become closer. If you watch those videos released by these groups you can clearly see them refer to Mullah Omar as Amir ol Momineen and they accept him as their leader. Although these groups opereate independently and their tactics differ sometimes, their aims are the same. To bring sharia law to their respective countries.

lets not forget that the military alliance of the worlds strongest nations have not been able to defeat the taliban in 10 years. all sides realize that the taliban won't be defeated, nor will the west. hence, there are peace talks. but if the taliban are able to stand the onslaught of the last 10 years, there is no way they will dissapear after 2014 when western forces are drawn down. if the most modern military's in the world, combined, can't get rid of the taliban, what chance does the afghan army have?
Gorrila warfare is different from conventional warfare. After the invasion the Taliban just blended in to the local population and some sought refuge in tribal areas of Pakistan. These tactics the TAliban use are hide and seek.
When the US/NATO leaves, the Taliban will have to come to the open to operate as a functioning government and force. This will make them setting ducks are target practice for drones and American firepower. When US/NATO troops leave, how will Taliban able to hurt them since Talibs don't have long range missiles and air power? The only reason Taliban have been able to withstand the onslought as you put it is because they are fighting asymetrical warefare. Once the occupiers leave, they will have to come in the open and they will be toast. Didn't you see how they dispersed after 2001 invasion and air bombardment? Sure Taliban can't be get rid off by just bombing them but one thing the Americans can do is to turn the locals against them by leaving the country, improving people's lives, and security. the people will have no reason to support the Taliban except the Taliban's promise of Sharia and ummah rhetoric.

Currenly all these attributes you described here counts for Pashtuns for post 2001 and pre-Taliban era, my priend! The core of your problem is that Pashtuns would lose many power. The main population of every district, province, country-side will chose their own people they prefare than those imported Panjabi or Peshawar thugs. That´s the reality. I don´t think that you will be in any position to take Afghans right because of your tribalist wishes. It means either you gave equal rights to all and self-determination to non-Pashtuns or you have to face another civil war which would be desastrous mostly for those people who are innocent, mostly Pashtuns. The political development of today is that the state is going to fall apart if that government exists or bring any criminal terrorist in the government.

Well Nokia is posing a legitimate question? He is saying pashtuns are in favour of Taliban and want the Taliban to rule over them. What is wrong with that statement? If he is wrong then how come Taliban's insurgency is supported mainly in pashtun dominated areas? infact he is absolutely right. pashtuns want Taliban because in pashtun areas they are the only source of governance as central government is percevied as too weak and incompetent and warlords are despised.

I don't know why abassin and others are gettiing angry. the proof is in the pudding as the english say.

My friend, pedophilism is mostly a Pashtun case. I can post you hundred of studies but it would be a shame for me as an Afghan and for you as a Pashtun. If the dog Massoud had been a Pashtun you would call him a hero and babi mellat. Your hatred against them is because they did not belong to Pashtuns (although largest tropps of NA were Pashtuns) and who stoped you (even destroyed you) to ask for power. And Massoud did support your way of governance and wanted an independent Afghanistan ruled by Afghans and asked the neighbours not to intervene in Afghanistan (exactly what Taliban and people like you want whose peed in their pants hearing about fedrealism and self-determination of non-Pashtuns) but you prove your fascist nature and that is the reason why you get killed. Because you are an ignorant fascist. You can not more rule alone without getting risking another civil war and mass migration to Iran and Pakistan again. Therefore everyone (even educated Pashtuns from eastern Afghanistan who live with us side by side) prefere a new government and a new political system and most of all system only federalism fit here. Why the Pashtun children are deprived from learing in Pashtu? Because of no federalism. If we had federalism the Pashtun boy would speak Pashtu even in Kabul, Herat, Nuristan and elsewhere. The Taliban destroyed everything Afghans felt as a common nation. To build the nation back to a common state without any ethnisization of policy we have to work from zero and start with federalism. All other system failed. Otherwise, it will be possible that because of the deep ethnica hatred the country could split. If America is able to cristalise Balochistan from Pakistan it can do it with Afghanistan easier. You should focus on the current development of your opponents who not only rule the majority of the population but also want to destroy Taliban and everyone that sympathize with Taliban. Let´s be serious. Another civil war would be the end of Afghanistan and noone want such a scenario. You can try to keep one ethnical group on ''power'' and trying to grip over all institutes (Pashtunization) and get what you deserve as fascists or you start a new round and do not repeat the same faults of the past.

Ps: i repeat it for you for the 10th time again. I am a Safi Pashayeewar. We have good relation to Pashtuns and Tajiks. We have nothing to do with Massoud, except some of us fought with the NA against Taliban, Arabs, Chechens, Pakistani army and special forces who entered Afghanistan

Thats a very stupid accusation. You have to admit, "bachabazi" (farsi word) exist in every corner of the world. Its not a pashtun, tajik or uzbek problem. Pedophillia is a global problem, there is thriving industry in Thailand where many westerners go for sex tourism. Its very well documented.

Bacha bazi is practiced in the north and south by some sick people. No need to generalize. I can also bring you thousands of videos showing bacha bazi in the north. It doesn't mean that its northern culture though.

Trust me, bacha bazi is much less in the pashtun areas because we have tribal codes besides Islam and nobody can dare to use someones child as sex toy. Such a thing is not tolerated in tribal society. In the north however, tribal links are not strong and warlordism is the rule. I am sure you know how many women Dostum, rasul palawan, and other warlords have kidnapped. I know Afghanistan very well more north to south. You can't fool people here.

I agree that people need to stay cool and remainn civil. But you can find hot heads everywhere.

I don't know whats that article about prostitution in pakistan got to do with anything. prostitution is the world's oldest profession as they say so nothing surpising that it happens in pakistan (land of the pure) lol

Olaf Caroe was British. British were the traditional enemies of pashtuns and British hated the pashtuns because of their rude manners and freedom lovingn nature. The pasthuns were not easy to subjugate like Punjabis and other indian groups. That's why the British wrote some propaganda against the pashtuns. The mughals also wrote bad things about the pashtuns. You have to look at things in their historical context. For example we can't ask Isrealies about who a palestinian is? because there will be propaganda and they will see they are arab terrorists. So we can't rely on propaganda of the British about Pashutns as well. Many times in these books written during colonial era, they split pashtuns into Afghans and the Pathans. They try to make a distinction between the two because they were already planning the Durand Line. The regarded as the pashtuns of AFghansitan as Afghans proper and pashtuns of british India as pathans. They try to brainwash our future generations into thinking we are different so they can divide and conquer and legitimze the durand line.

The mughals also wrote books in their courts about how pashtuns are bani isreal. but we all know how big of a lie that is. There is no historical proof for it and recent DNA test also don't support such theory. Infact pashtun have less jewish connection than tajiks or uzbeks. lol
We are not so stupid to fall for such propaganda. We know who we are. We don't need biased enemies to tell us.

                              Civil war or peace?

German Military Fears Civil War in Afghanistan

Officially, the Afghanistan conference set to kick off in Bonn on Monday is, according to the German Foreign Ministry website, intended to "solidify together with Afghanistan the long-term engagement of the international community and to advance the political process in the country."

Unofficially, however, many see the gathering, which will bring Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai together with NATO foreign ministers, as but a prelude to withdrawal. US President Barack Obama has begun the American drawdown and has said it will be complete by 2014. His NATO allies, including Germany, have followed suit, with Germany planning to reduce its presence in Afghanistan by 950 troops by the beginning of 2013. The remaining 4,400 troops are to leave by the end of 2014. NATO has referred to the process as a handover of security responsibility to Afghanistan. But a report in the German tabloid Bild on Friday, citing secret US military intelligence documents as well as confidential German military documents, indicates that military officials in both countries believe that civil war in Afghanistan will be the result.
The paper quotes what it describes as a secret, collaborative appraisal by the US and German militaries as saying: "When the ISAF troops leave the country, there will be civil war." (Eds. note: Quote translated from the German.) The paper says that once withdrawal is complete, leaders of the insurgency, who are currently in Pakistan, "will return to Afghanistan."
                              'Meeting Our Goals'
While it is certainly no secret that the situation in Afghanistan remains far from stable, the pessimism displayed in the secret documents stands in stark contrast with the message political leaders have been eager to convey. Just in June, when Obama announced the beginning of the US drawdown, he said that troop reduction had become possible because "we are meeting our goals."
In a message posted on the German Foreign Ministry website, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle also does not question that Afghanistan forces will be able to take over full responsibility for security in the country in 2014. Westerwelle has been a leading voice in Germany pushing for withdrawal, driven by widespread voter frustration over the length and cost of the engagement.
NATO officials have been careful to warn that the international engagement in Afghanistan, particularly when it comes to training security forces and to economic reconstruction, will continue long after the combat troops have been withdrawn.
The Bild story also claimed that the documents contained indications that the Afghanistan intelligence service had participated in attacks on the German military, and that German weapons had ended up in the hands of Taliban fighters.
The revelations printed in Bild are the first time that high-level doubts about the efficacy of NATO's engagement in Afghanistan have reached the public eye. Several analysts have openly doubted whether the international community will be able to beat back the Taliban sufficiently by 2014 to enable Afghanistan's military and police forces to maintain control. Just this autumn, a top German general said that the mission in the country had failed.
A Negative View of the War
"The mission fulfilled the political aim of showing solidarity with the United States," Harald Kujat, formerly Germany's top-ranked soldier and a leading planner of Germany's mission to Afghanistan 10 years ago, told the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung in October. "But if you measure progress against the goal of stabilizing a country and a region, then the mission has failed."
General Stanley McChrystal, who led the Afghanistan troop increase ordered by Obama in 2009, likewise voiced his doubts this autumn. He said that the US and NATO were only "50 percent of the way" toward achieving the goals they had set for themselves.
In addition, the Afghanistan War Logs released by WikiLeaks last year and reported on extensively by SPIEGEL and other major news outlets provided a view of the war that opened the public's eyes to the difficulties faced by the operation.
                              Merkel Demands Political Reconciliation

The civil war concerns would appear to be well founded. When the Soviet Union pulled out following its own less-than-successful attempt to pacify the country in the late 1980s, Afghanistan quickly descended into a decade of civil war. It was out of that war that the Taliban -- and a safe haven for al-Qaida -- emerged. Increasingly, many have come to the conclusion that the only possibility to achieve peace in Afghanistan is via negotiations with moderate members of the Taliban. In an interview with the Bonn daily General Anzeiger published on Friday, Merkel said "not everyone who at one point fought for the Taliban stands permanently in the way of a peaceful development. Many of these people can and should contribute to a stabile future for Afghanistan."
"Afghanistan needs an internal process of political reconciliation, and externally it needs to be embedded in good partnerships with its neighbors," Merkel continued. She said that the West wants to avoid "repeating the errors of others in the past," and pledged that Afghanistan would not be left to its own devices even after 2014. "The goal in Bonn is to strengthen Afghanistan ahead of the transition phase."
Officially, NATO troops in Afghanistan are making progress in the fight against the Taliban and will be able to hand over security responsibilities to Kabul as planned in 2014. Unofficially, according to secret US and German documents revealed in a German daily, military leaders fear civil war once they depart.
