both groups have legitimate gripes against each other though afghanistan in recent times, even the civil war, has not really been a sectarian issue. ethnic or religious.

truth is that tajiks and pashtuns live peacefully in afghanistan. sure there are northern commanders who harass pashtuns, but these are commanders and not common folk. nothing like the blood feud between say baloch and punjabi that is civilian vs civilian, or the ethnic killings in karachi that makes afghanistan's race relations look heavenly

even during afghanistan civil war u had major pashtun groups fighting alongside massoud against hekmatyar who was allied with hazaras. there was ethnic animosity but i think the issue is overblown.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

What are you talking about. one day they were allies against dostum and the hazaras, another day hekmatyar would ally with hazaras and mosud allied with dostum. during those days aliances switched so often that commanders were confused who was their friend and who was their foe. you had tajiks taking refuge in pashtun areas all the time.

It's mostly a myth. large massacres happend between the taliban and hazaras and the hazaras and tajiks but never between the tajiks and the pashtuns.

Tajiks and pashtuns are both from the hanafi school if Islam and historically they have been allies against the shia persians/iran.

afghanistan has never claimed or aspired to rule the caliphate, nor was it created out of islamic solidarity, yet our inter-ethnic conflict is nothing compared to pakistan. a pakistan that see's itself as the inheritors of the mughal legacy, an islamic super power based on its nukes and military, at the expense of its economy which is pretty pathetic. its military, which has shown that it can be completely nuetered based on vague threats from the US, according to mushy. where its capital city is a battle ground for ethnic wars, the population of its biggest province wants nothing to do with the state and is actively trying to separate from it. where its tribal areas are only part of pakistan on the map but not in reality. where pakistan is funding a war in kashmir to incorporate it into pakistan whereas bangladesh wanted nothing to do with the state so it left, and 1/3rd of the remaining country wants to leave.

maybe i went off a little there. but when it comes to pakistan, talk of breaking off is commonplace, whereas in afghanistan no one even dares to publicly speak of such a thing. this is because afghan minorities know they are far closer to their pashtun countrymen than their ethnic brothers up north beyond the borders where they have very little in common.

Almost every Tajik has a Pashtun buddy and the same for Pashtun. I am must admit there are very few fascist ignoramuses, perhaps on both sides. They are a tip of the iceberg.
