to this day I have never understood why the british conquered India so easily, I mean every major power in India had huge armies there. Mughals had a army, sikhs did, rajputs did and many of the southern indian kingdoms did, yet they didn't even try to fight the British. Had they united to fight them, I doubt they would have conquered India so easily.

One of the problems of India has always been the disunity among different ethnicities and religion, I think the outsiders have always used this as an advantage to conquer India. The divide and rule concept was not really needed in India, as they were already divided. The british basically had to make alliances with some groups and ethnicities and slowly they conquered all of india like this

A good movie to watch is (Shatranj ke Khiladi) it basically shows how british conqured India, while the Mughal and other rulers were enjoying their lives, playing chess and with women

Also slavery has been a big problem in India, even till now. You see almost 200 million indians are (dalits) who have been slaved to do all the dirty works for upper caste Indians, as well the outsiders like British
