Afghanistan has given Pakistan Alot of things(Not ment in a good way), Pakistan is already receiving alot of Money from NATO from using its transport routes to transport NATO military equipment to NATO forces.
Pashtuns have Survived even when the British didnt invent Pakistan, What makes you so sure, Pashtuns will suffer if Pakistan is gone?

Mahmud Khan Achakzai is one genuine and respectable politician in Pak Afghan Politics who has never compromised with the military establihsment and agencies of Pakistan ,who otherwise created the so called popular leaders like Nawaz Sharif, the whole PML[Q], MQM etc in Pakistani Politics. We need more persons like him in both "lar and bar watan".

Many Afghans who lived in Quetta and Karachi as refugees, would beg to differ. It was his party who wrote on walls, and mazdas in Karachi that "Afghan baghora mordabad" his party was literally begging for public support to kick out Afghans. I still remember how an Urduspeaker, once told the bus driver to remove the sign "Afghan baghora moradabad" from his bus and how Afghans are our brothers. So lets analyze this,We have a Pashtun asking Afghans to leave, and a non-Pashtun of Pakistan kindly asking to remove it. Sad ain't it?Originally posted by pir_Rokhan View PostMahmud Khan Achakzai is one genuine and respectable politician in Pak Afghan Politics who has never compromised with the military establihsment and agencies of Pakistan ,who otherwise created the so called popular leaders like Nawaz Sharif, the whole PML[Q], MQM etc in Pakistani Politics. He talks the talk, But I fail to see the walk. This is my opinion and based on what I have seen with my very own eyes. In the 80's it was quite visible. But now astonishingly he is the first to chant for unity and progression for Pashtuns. So I am not quite sure if this is a publicity stunt, or if him and his party has really changed.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

He is an Afghan by blood and that is something that cannot be changed. That's something the Tajiks, Uzbeks, Turkomens and Hazaras will never have because they are Afghan nationals and can never be Afghan by blood.Originally posted by Smarty View Posthe should identify himself as pakistani rathar than afghan, afghanistan will give him nothing.
You heard wrong, unfortunately...Originally posted by SamimaI heard use to call Afghans baghora and now he calls himself Afghan. no. He try's to hard to be Afghan.
What do you want him to do? He represents a sparsely populated area and he can only have some strength in the assemblies. As Pir Rokhan has mentioned, Achakzai has never deviated from his principles. He is the greatest Pashtun leader of our age. No one else comes close.Originally posted by Sangar View PostI use to like him allot. But I have realized he is nothing but talk. What do you expect him to do?"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

I am not too sure about the baghora thing. However, Mahmud Khan's father sacrificed a lot for Pashtuns. He started one of the first genuine Pashtun movements and agitated against the British. So that part is not true. His father suffered many years in prison, and Mahmud Khan regularly was in Kabul, so I doubt he suddenly became one. So now Pashtuns have to try to be something that is their identity? That is weird. People here want to eat the cake and have it too.Originally posted by SamimaI heard use to call Afghans baghora and now he calls himself Afghan. no. He try's to hard to be Afghan.
Samrty stop your nonsense please. We are all Afghans. It is not a choice for us. We should start working to help Pashtuns. What has Pakistan given us? Bombs, IDPs, refugees, taliban, etc. Thanks but no thanks (and no Son of mountains India has nothing to do with this, so please don't mention it).Last edited by BLS_1919v2.0; 06-12-2010, 01:44 AM.

ANP and Achakzai allied themselves with the government in Kabul (btw Achakzai party is PKMAP, not ANP). They used to call it a fasaadh. Don't blame them for that. It wasn't only ANP, but a lot of others as well. The tragedy is that when it came upon swat and other areas in fata, the refugees there were treated like dogs. They were protests in Sindh to kick them out. This isn't an ANP thing, unfortunately IDPs and refugees got the worse end of the stick (however, let us not forget the people of mardan and swabai were very hospitable).Originally posted by shlombayLevanye, ask your dad or your uncle what ANP thought of Afghans after the soviet invasion.
Now like Pir Rokhan has said, and this is on record, that Achakzai was the only politician in Pakistan that did not sell his backside to ISI. This in it of itself is a major achievement, considering they are the political godfathers of Pakistan (hec even some of the so-called mujahideen sold to them or America as well). They also, protested the interference of FC soldiers into Afghanistan (back in the early 90s I believe, the FC were going to enter Afghanistan in Afghan army clothing from Quetta, Watanpal knows this event well).Last edited by BLS_1919v2.0; 06-12-2010, 01:43 AM.

Political parties's survival is their constituancy and if their constituancies are weakened then they are nothing what ever objective they might have. From my readings of ANP in particular, although they celebrated when millions of Afghans poured in Pashtukhwa and that strengthened their believe in no border and unity of Pashtun nation, but the Afghan Mujahideen leaders' close association with Pakistani establishment and rejection of Pashtun nationalism led to certain expedient policies towards Afghans. I will look in to this and provide a detail reply what those reasons might have been (If you guys wish, there is book basically cimpilation of excelent essays on Pakistan which I would recommend to read titled 'Pakistan: Nationalism without a Nation'), others like BLS with first hand knowledge can perhaps elucidate on this. I don't know the reasons behind Mahmood Khan and his party's negative attitude towards Afghans. I met a Kandahari some time ago who has lived in Quetta and Karachi and he certainly also had a bad opinion of him. I also know of ANP leaders' siblings and I would not even consider them Pashtuns. They are everythig other Pak-s-tanis are. In my humble opinion, what these nationalist parties' immediate objevtives currently seems to stand is to aggrandise their power and influence in the Pak politics and they seem to think the time is on their side and they seem to have more leaverage now than ever bofore over the Pak-i establishment. Most of them have businesses in Karachi and Panjab and are also eating a good share of the trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan from the information I have. Alah u yaalam.Last edited by Guest; 06-12-2010, 03:08 AM.

ANP is not really pro-pakistan, it is just that pakistan's strategic depth policy has backfired in their faces. Now ANP and PPP are the natural elements that the establishment would have to work with. See, they thought they could cater to the taliban and MMA (MMA was musharraf's lota party in the region), but this is not feasible today. At least not on a political front. If one looks at it historically from the soviet-Afghan war and onwards, the pak establishment has always used the religious parties in Pashtunkhwa as a way to smoke screen the political realities in the region. Don't worry, when they need them, mullahs will be dancing to pakistan zindabad and ANP will become hindus again lollz.Originally posted by Smarty View PostI like ANP, It is quite pro-pakistani party now
