    Maiwand Jan,

I want you to read this:

    http://www.louisville.com/content/se...islation-arena

and I want you to read about this case:

    http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/201...K7H/story.html

These two news worthy events made large waves in publication here in the US and have changed everything in a short span of time.

Please do not look at this as confrontational, but I think I need to say this so that people here at PF stay safe in this new environment where free speech is now drastically curtailed, even against those of us who are nonviolent and merely understand history.

Our genetics has fettered us unfortunately... as we all have our ancestory in a region of the world that is once again embroiled in severe conflict between the mighty... rendering the gharib without a voice.

Innocent people who have no involvement in anything are being accused simply to be made examples of. It would be a travesty if the folks that supervise the site or visitors were made an example of simply for expressing themselves or for not being able to comb through thousands of posting to find what to delete and what not to delete. But this is now the new world in which we all live.

I know that such a move gaurantees that Soldat and his ilk become able to put out messages 1 way, without rejoinders. And this unfortunately makes it so that our countrymen in our adopted nations cannot get access to the truth that they so desperately need and that people like Dr. Paul and Dr. Scheuer and others are trying to tell them.

But in such a situation we should continue to discuss the matter in an academic sense and offer responses with references that derive directly from Western sources, and there are many of these.

If you look at Dr. Robert Pape's video lecture on the causes of suicide bombing in the Pashtun belt, he directly refers to such videos to make his point and that allows for an academic discussion similar to the one I had with Scimitar about the roots of these sorts of events.

I promise you that I am not singling you out as I have also spoken to 1 member who has ideological opposition to me about not haplessly shooting his mouth off and putting himself into unnecessary turmoil.

This was one of the reasons I asked the PF staff to reconsider Noorzai's CENTCOM membership as I felt that it was incitement that would cause many young people who are just passionate, but nonviolent and not involveed in anything to unnecessarily put themselves and their parents into problematic scenarios.

    Salamoona and all the best!

That is a very powerful video, and very emotional..even though some may have downloaded it already i have no doubt that it will be removed on youtube as it gives an honest opinion of someone that believes they are fighting for a true cause. Thank you for having the guts to upload the video - as for academic reasons only it gives us "the other side of the story"

Under the NDAA act, Americans just watching this video can get arrested and handed over to a military tribunal, indefinitely.

Aside from that, I may for the first time have to correct Barakzai here. Even academic discussion can be considered unlawful once the bill is signed into law.

Juan Cole has experienced this, and Noam Chomsky has warned about this.

Ron Paul has come out very strongly against the NDAA as well as the OWS.

The constitution of the US has pretty much been discarded.

Over the past few months, even participation in OWS protests has been criminalizes

Free speech, even academic speech is over

A similar police state was set up in Rome before the Roman Empire split up into independent provinces
The president doesn't need to sign it; The AUMF already grants him the power to detain citizens. The NDAA, only legalizes the AUMF.

NDAA act was passed by both houses of congress.

OWS is dead, no more media coverage killed them.

but yeah. lets keep this place for intelligent discussion, not some "extremist" forum where fingers are pointed at. it serves no ones purpose. lets keep PF centcom and AQ free.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I question the mental states of young men who put themselves out there making outlandish statements, videos, without a single concern or care for what could happen to them regardless where they are living. These tough cyber warriors making videos against ISI, Taliban, or US, NATO and what not, are in reality bored, confused, Western youth suffering from social complexes and identity crises.

Khudai la para lag dah khpal buda moor plaar la wagorai......spare them the heartache. These things are not fun and play.

Many users of PF whether in the US or the UK will have noticed a gradual erosion of their general freedoms in general. I have noticed this in particular when I have travelled to the US - as well as general restrictions, it also means that people cannot express themselves as freely. The Americans here have their Bill of Rights and long established tradition of freedom of speech which has long been admired. The French and Germans are ahead of most of Europe in this regard, but note the German sensitivity around Holocaust. Almost universally, you cannot be seen to be 'soft' on the Holocaust and ultimately, there can only be one opinion on this - the one that complies with the state. Europeans are used to, on the other hand, very lax censorship laws - more so than the US in many regards (more to do with social attitudes) - and 'adult' material and the advertising thereof circulated for a long time passed more freely in Europe.

George Orwell wrote about the state knowing your business in his novel, 1984 and the movie V for Vendetta was set in a future totalitarian London. It sounds far-fetched, but when the UK is the most watched society in terms of electronic camera surveillance and the average person going about his business is caught on camera 300 times a day, it begins to make eerie sense why Orwell wrote what he did. The tragedy here is that there were voices of protest initially when cameras were rolled out on street corners and as traffic monitors, but this was countered by the arguments put forward by the state on security.

I have lived for several years in non-democratic Arab countries and there is a network of people who will happily inform. It is a pattern that is sometimes overlooked, but when you get close to it, you know it exists. Palestinians, Syrians and Egyptians for example, living in the Gulf are NOT allowed to be overly political. If they are, expect their visas to be cancelled and for them to removed. The same applies to Afghans, Iranians or Pakistanis etc. Notice how all the nationalities mentioned are Muslims with possible grievances and yet all of them make up the workforce in Gulf. On the whole most folk are very well behaved since the fear of their families going hungry is enough to make make people comply. I know that people have 'disappeared'.

The people who are willing to take away your freedoms can style themselves as democrats or autocrats, Christians or Muslims. Paranoia - at all levels - is real, both at state level and personal level and ultimately a good many of them Muslims or otherwise, are in it together.

Randolph ... earlier today you posted a picture of a trash dumpster in reference to something that I will not name. Irony and satire sometimes work that way, however, picture hard deleted to comply with the kind of moderation you mention in your last paragraph. You make me smile too much, so I never want you to be carried off by men in suits and dark glasses.

... Oh With your current taste in photography ... you might be popular in North Korea.

Can you or anyone here please link me to something that covers the vital and important details of this act? I have, of course, attempted to research it independently without good result. I specifically interested in the parts of the act that allow for the indefinite tribunal for merely watching this video. Post anything good you have on this act!

Also, I'm sorry but right now I do not have time to watch this entire video - Can someone tell me who the individual is, what ethnicity is he, is he actually fighting or fought in AFG or PK?

I could give you something better then a read.

My cousin was interrogated at his own home for 2.5 hours, for simply taken pictures of his visit to Kohat. I can't lie to you, cause I was there with him in his house.

as long as this place doesn't become a haven for gross beheading videos, i don't mind being edited at times.
