  • Imran Khan Karachi Jalsa

Imran Khan Karachi Jalsa is about to happen (Dec 25), please post news in this thread. This will be possibly his biggest Jalsa.

Imran says Karachi specially needs change

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said on Friday that Karachi specially needed change because a handful of people had divided the city.

“There is a dire need for unity to get these forces out of the political arena.” He was addressing a select gathering of women at the house of social worker Nazli Waris Wada here on Friday. Khan said he had insisted her to come into politics but she was afraid.

He said that the Army should not indulge in politics and ruled out any chances of a martial law in the country. Commenting on Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s question that who had issued a visa to Osama bin Laden, Khan remarked that it was an irresponsible statement as it would encourage the wishful thinking of enemies who wanted to declare Pakistan as a failed state.

“Such a statement by the prime minister at this stage will further create havoc, as May 2 Abbotabad Commission’s proceedings are in progress. The PM’s remarks have endangered the country’s sovereignty,” he said.

“A silent revolution has begun and all the political forces are shocked from the PTI tsunami. In one house, the father is associated with one party while the mother and children have joined the PTI, thus bringing an in-house revolution,” he said, adding that the December 25 rally at Mazar-e-Quaid would bring a major breakthrough in the country’s political scenario.

When a journalist questioned whether Makhdoom Javed Hashmi would be

joining the PTI, Imran replied smilingly: “I have learnt that every bowl should not

be played in the match. Let the day come.”

He said: “The movement of change has been started, as the prevailing corruption has destroyed the institutions and the governance system had collapsed. Pakistan cannot survive without a change,” he said, urging all those present to take a firm stand against the “evil forces” in order to save the country and secure the future of the young generation.

“I could have lived outside Pakistan as there was much acceptability for me but I preferred to stay in Pakistan as I felt that there is no respect for Pakistanis in the world. This country has bestowed everything to its people but unfortunately it lacks honest leadership.”

He said that nobody listened to the 50 percent people living below poverty line. “They have been deprived of safe water, medical treatment, education and justice, while the rich are becoming richer.” He said the state’s affairs could not be run by a small chunk of the elite.

Imran reminded the people of the Egypt’s revolution when he repeatedly asked them to participate in Sunday’s rally. Welcoming all those who have recently joined the PTI — particularly Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Tareen and Ishaq Khakwani — he said that the party would soon announce its policy in consultation with such seasoned politicians and experts.

Earlier, Shahd Mehmood Qureshi appealed the elite women to attend the PTI rally in large numbers, “although you are not used to participating in public meetings”. He also urged the civil society to attend the rally and show the entire world that intellectuals and women have now been dominating the country’s politics.

Sunday’s rally to be historic event: Imran

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has declared that Sunday’s (December 25) public rally at Qauid’s Mazar would go ahead as planned and it would also be a ‘historic’ landmark in country’s politics.
Addressing a huge crowd that turned up at late on Thursday night to welcome him at Karachi’s International Airport, Khan promised to his supporters that December 25 event would be even bigger than the one in Lahore last month.
Earlier on Friday the rally venue, which was cleared of the PTI workers and taken over by the law enforcers, was reopened for the organisers of the rally after Khan talked to Quaid-e-Azam Trust and the Sindh Government officials.

Sea change in coastal city before PTI rally

KARACHI: City walls and installations that were splattered with spiteful anti-Imran Khan remarks in 2007 may now see the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief, riding a wave of new-found popularity in the country, stage his first rally in the stronghold of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement at the Mazar-i-Quaid this Sunday.
Mr Khan, who is now recognised as a force to be reckoned with after his successful show of political prowess in Punjab, was denied entry to Karachi twice in 2007 for criticising Altaf Hussain, chief of the MQM which was then bitterly opposed to the since reinstated Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
Though the city’s major arteries and billboards wear welcome slogans and banners for Mr Khan, who won the 1992 cricket world cup for Pakistan, unlike Punjab no political heavyweight is likely to join his party here.
“Trends of politics in Punjab and Sindh, particularly Karachi, are quite different,” said novelist and political analyst Mohammed Hanif.
“One cannot expect any heavyweight to announce joining the PTI. In Karachi there are individuals who are recognised for their political struggle but they have never been effective.”
But what amazes many is a sudden change in the relations between the PTI and the MQM — the blue-eyed party of the General Musharraf regime that banned Mr Khan from even entering Sindh in 2007 during the movement for the restoration of the pre-PCO judiciary.
Uncharitable remarks and allegations formed the major content of primetime television shows for some time. Many have yet to erase those memories, though leaders from both sides have almost ‘buried the unfortunate past’.
Without defining the fate of those serious allegations, they seem to have started believing in ‘co-existence’.
“I don’t think we are political opponents,” said Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari, the Sindh minister and the MQM’s deputy parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly.
“The MQM doesn’t believe in political extremism. Whatever unfortunately happened in the past, we were not responsible for that. We only responded in the same way — whether it was an argument or a statement.”
All set to welcome ‘hundreds of thousands of Karachiites’ at Mazar-i-Quaid on Dec 25, PTI leaders are little interested in looking into ‘such minor issues’. However, they insist that political and ideological differences between the two parties will stay.
“We are not getting into such controversies right now,” said the party’s secretary general Dr Arif Alvi, a respected Karachiite, who is recognised for his political loyalty and professional distinction.
“MQM chief Altaf Hussain has already welcomed the PTI movement, saying that it represents the middle-class and educated class. So we take it positively and in line with our own slogan of national unity for the Dec 25 rally.”
Mr Sabzwari sees the PTI rally as a ‘good sign’ for healthy and democratic politics and Dr Alvi wishes representation of all political parties at Mazar-i-Quaid on Dec 25.On the one hand it appears to be a good day out for Karachiites interested in politics but on the other the rally is seen to be mostly about national issues offering little to Karachi politics.
“I think much water has flowed under the bridge since 2007,” said Mr Hanif, the analyst. “There is so much spoken and heard about the establishment’s support for Imran Khan’s PTI, though one can never establish that. So my reading is that both parties at this point of time are forward-looking. The PTI stages a rally for symbolic reasons and in a bid to portray itself as a national party. The MQM keeps its options open by avoiding confrontation with a fast-growing party.

MULTAN: Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and now Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has landed in Karachi Saturday, Geo News reported. PTI chief Imran Khan also reached the airport to receive Hashmi.

While talking exclusively to Geo News, Hashmi told that he has decided to join PTI as it is the party that could bring change. He rejected all such allegations that PTI has been formed by the establishment and that many parties were targeted earlier as well.

He said that he is hopeful that PTI will fulfill peoples’ wishes as the country is currently in a state of turmoil. He also added that he has no personal differences with Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Earlier in the morning, PML-N workers blocked the road outside his residence in Multan to prevent him from leaving. After reaching the Multan airport, Hashmi announced about him joining the PTI.

Javed hashmi is good gain for PTI. I have discussed PTI with various students and they are of opinion that they are sick of corrupt and selfish politicians from ANP, PPP and PML, they want change and imran khan is hope because he is not corrupted. Like shehbaz khan, they were saying that he deserves a chance...I am astounded at the popularity of imran khan among students of my college, even those of other parties have good opinion about him.
I have a question for you shehbaz, to what extent urdu community would support imran khan because most of them are supporters of MQM?...Pashtuns there would support PTI, but without support of urdu people, imran khan can never be successful in karachi.

Luffy the main problem is our voting system. Suppose if I am going to vote tomorrow I am not going to see who is the best I will see who has got my family's support and this trend in Pakistan is a curse. Everyone going after a certain member of their family. This is the main problem.

As far as Karachi is concerned as I mentioned somewhere over here in my comments that there should be one basic rule for free and fair elections and that is that the elections must be conducted under Army or Rangers and they must have the orders to 'shoot on sight' when someone tries to disturb the peace. What MQM and other parties in the city are doing is that they activate their terrorist wings on such ocassions that don't even let the common man to get out and vote ..

Rest, there is no such thing that the Urdu Speaking community is going to support MQM. Many of my friends are Urdu speakers and they are fed up of Altaf and PPP etc .. They too are humans with brain and want a change.

But you yourself have said that MQM has done lot of developmental works in karachi so therefore i thought may be urdu speakers would trust on already established party. Tomorrow when if you are participating in jalsa then try to note the level of participation of urdu speakers in jalsa and then inform us.
