PressTV - Afghans protest US killing of civilians

    SZH/JR/HGH

Hundreds of Afghans have taken to the streets to protest against the recent missile attack by US-led forces which left at least eight civilians dead, Press TV reports.

Protesters gathered in the streets of Tagab in Kapisa Province, chanting slogans against the Afghan government and foreign forces in the country.

Angry protesters also demanded those responsible for the fatal attacks to be brought to justice.

Local sources say the rockets were fired from a military base used jointly by Afghan and US-led NATO forces in the Heybat region of the northeastern province.

According to a United Nations report on Afghanistan issued on September 28, the monthly average number of security incidents recorded for the year through the end of August has climbed by nearly 40 percent.

The report also said that civilian casualties, already at record levels in the first six months of the year, rose five percent between June and August 2011, compared to the same period in 2010.

Insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of nearly 150,000 US-led troops in the country.

Thousands of Afghan civilians have been killed by US-led forces since the occupation of the country which began more than a decade ago.

Poor Afghans just protest in streets on such cruel incidents. Why they don't learn from the US and NATO forces to be some one like them who wiped out the government of Taliban in few days and now present on the Afghan soil for more than one decade with the consent of Afghan government and Afghan parliament.

At least Pakistan showed better muscles this time that just by killing of their few soldiers they made such a huge hue and cry and the whole world is nor entreating Pakistan to attend the Bonn conference and asking apologies for the this minor accident.

Maybe you need to see this

The US economy is beyond recovery. US "power" is not as it was before. Iran and Pakistan no longer cower to US threats. In regards, to Pakistan, those fat generals took huge political advantage out of the deaths of 24 soldiers. Its not as you see it. They closed the supply lines, closed that illegal Shamsi base, and are now forced to stick to these decisions due to Imran Khan's rise to power, and his demands to end all support for the US war and also to end the US war all together. US and the West are not what they once were. China is the new power in the globe, and they cant not be challenged for a long time.

US casualties and wounded continue to increase, and loss of money that does no exist continues to put the US and the West in chains that China only appears to want to enforce.

The era of the West is over.

According to multiple accounts, and most notably that by former British Ambassador to Kabul, Sherard Cowles, the majority of Afghanistan is under Taliban control, not the US or Karzai

US Economy might have got some problems but its still thousands times better than that of Afghanistan.

If majority of Afghanistan is under Taliban rule then why they don't occupy Kabul and declare their government and why they don't defeat US as US defeated them and ousted them from the government?

The whole north and all non Pashtun areas are under karzai. Only in few pockets in Pashtun areas Taliban have their sway but that too informally and not legally and are not recognized by any standard of international law.

Can you please name few district headquarters where Taliban have their government?

thats not the point. The point made, is that in the backdrop of history, the collapse of the US economy mimics that of the decline and collapse of the Soviet Union. Parallels are too close to separate what went wrong. Here is something that will give you a more objective assessment of the situation. Keep in mind that the EU zone is heavily influenced by the US. The US economic collapse goes hand in hand with the EU zone collapse http://articles.economictimes.indiat...-export-growth

well, what do you think is happening in your world? A US/ Western victory? Really?

Why is Karzai known as the Mayor of Kabul? Care to explain. Even in Kabul, his vaulted city, he needed to take three choppers to arrive at his meaningless, choreographed jirga. Now, why is that? Is it because he just likes to live the high life? I doubt that. We do know he is fond of stealing money, but that is not the reason he sleeps with one eye open.

Lastly, how come after 10 years, with an alliance of over 50+ nations with the most superior weaponry, the US/West has failed? Now, do you disagree that they have not failed? Does your assessment have more validity than the former British Ambassador to Kabul, Sherard Cowles? Here is the title, please read it.
It’s a fantasy to think we are winning the war in Afghanistan

It’s a fantasy to think we are winning the war in Afghanistan - Telegraph

He is no ISI agent or Taliban propagandist. This is the former British Ambassador to Kabul. He wrote a book. Read it.

Here is another fairly accurate account of the scenario that is unfolding.

We’ve lost the Afghan war, Russia and China will win

Multiple accounts given by other people who have been there, including the former British Ambassador to Kabul, Sherard Coles disagree with your assessment, they actually state otherwise. Remember, as said above, Coles is not the Taliban propaganda minister, unless you think he is in secret?

US has gone thru the great Recession of thirties but recovered and is still the World No 1 super power. Another recession after decades will not be a big deal. Afghanistan is since time immemorial a back ward country with economic problems.

I just want to see a Taliban government in Kabul or any provincial capital. That day I will believe in the defeat of Karzai, US and Afghan parliament. For me the stories of an ambassador or any one else is not a proof of the defeat of the Afghan parliament and government or the Us.
