  • Karzai orders probe into nuke dumping allegations

KABUL (PAN): In response to a recommendation by last month's Loya Jirga, President Hamid Karzai has renewed his call for a thoroughgoing investigation into allegations that Pakistan had buried its nuclear waste in two southern Afghan provinces.
Late on Wednesday, the president issued a decree for a comprehensive probe into the alleged dumping in southern Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
In 2008, the president had issued a decree for the creation of a team of experts to investigate the matter in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The decree said the investigation should involve all departments concerned. It added the findings should be reported to the Afghan government within six months.
Three years ago, then parliamentary affairs minister and current education minister, Ghulam Farooq Wardak, told the BBC Pakistan had dumped its nuclear waste during the Taliban regime in Kandahar and Helmand.
Karzai's decree also called on Afghan ministries and departments to consider suggestions of the Loya Jirga while reaching strategic agreements with foreign countries.
Based on recommendations of the grand tribal assembly, the composition of the High Peace Council should be revisited in a short span of time, the decree said.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

There should be an inquiry and punitive action taken by all means "if" this is credible.

    Couple of questions though

#Wardak should have a location for these waste pits or atleast name names..since his last statement nothing concrete poured from the Afghan government

    #NNSA
(National Nuclear Safety Administration) has an Aerial Measuring System that characterizes ground-deposited radiation from aerial platforms. These platforms include fixed wing and rotary wing aircrafts with radiological measuring equipment, computer analysis of aerial measurements, and equipment to locate lost radioactive sources, conduct aerial surveys, or map large areas of contamination.
so having this capability it should be 'very' easy to find these waste deposits since they last for essentially thousands of years

    # Finding these deposits if they exist would have been NATO's top priority since essentially there soldiers would be fighting in these areas

    # Would have observed effects of radiation leak on the local population in massive numbers

So considering these I am skeptical about this, because essentially it could be a way to dent taliban credibility in their previous strongholds i.e. kandahar and helmand

If...I mean If...its proven truth, only matter of testing and investigation, it will show the real brotherhood Pakistan and the Taliban had, and will expose the well documented fact that Pakistan and the Taliban were hell bent on destroying Afghanistan for Pakistani interests.

Like they say, Pakistan saw Afghanistan as its trash can, and only created the Taliban to clear the roads of opponents who may distrupt Pakistan's plan to use Afghanistan as a trade route to Turkmenistan i.e the Afghan development cell.

If its proven...........I hope India dumps its nuclear waste in Punjab Pakistan and let them feel the consequences of their evil intent.

@Amir.. I dont think India will be too keen on that..but like i said hiding nuclear waste and with such high levels of radioactivity its like hiding an elephant in a room

^ My point exactly Maulik..my point wasn't to discredit the Indian authorities rather the point Amir raised makes literally no sense..even as worst enemies Pakistan and India have tried to main cordiality in diplomatic relations atleast on the face of it

India and Pakistan are far apart in terms of civilization.

Pakistan is probably the only country that exploits the plight of refugees and uses them to join favored Islamist parties i.e Peshawar Seven/Ration parties.

Pakistani army runs the whole country, while in India secularism and the government does.

Talal......If Pakistan did dump the nuclear waste it would be quite honest and reasonable for the Talib trash in the jails to clean it up and get a refund from the ISI.

Gotta hand it to Mr. Karzai. The only dump occuring is his last remaining brain matter through his widened rectal vault.

STOP Occupation of Afghanistan NOW! - YouTube[/URL]

Forward to 5 minutes into this gentleman's speech to his fellow Kandaharis.

Note that he makes a very valid point. He is, time and time again, accused of being a Pakistani. This is the classic technique that these failed technocrats use to justify their repeated and sustained inferiority complex. In order to keep oppressing gentleman like this, these folks have to dehumanize and deAfghanize him... after all, his rural masses freedom threatens their gravy train. Thats why each time this sort of trash comes up, its best just to dismiss it as another bit of show boating by these folks.

This is Mr. Karzai's vain attempt to deflect from the fact that the only folks stealing and dumping in Afghanistan are his cronies and own brothers, Shah Wali, Qayoum the Clown, and Mahmoud

                    http://www.pashtunforums.com/politic...to-star-24003/

He ought to certainly annoint a commission to deal with that as opposed to allowing his government to sell fake accomplishments to the world:

                    http://www.pashtunforums.com/health-...0-years-24000/

This is a common trait amongst failed Afghan emigres and technocrats who have deep guilt and shame over the fact that the rural Pashtuns fought and won the Afghan war without their decript leadership. They were too busy populating Italian mudbathes, Islamabad Chai Khanas, and American Baltimore Restaurants while their compatriots were dying and fighting a Russian war machine.

All too aware of the fact that their cowardice is directly proportional to their inability to lead a viable nation state, these folks who failed in the West, but still believe that they have what it takes to civilize their little brown brothers sit around and float the following reasons for their failure:

Here are the top 2 Afghan emigre stories I recall from my youth:

                    1) Pakistan stole all our mineral wealth... seriously they stole all of it right out of the mountains!

Hmmm, perhaps you ought to convey that to Mr. Shahrani and his family and Mr. Petreus who made sure that the NY Times touted the vast mineral wealth Afghanistan has locked in its hills. Did the Frontier Corps steal it for a little while and then put it back in right before the 2001 invasion?

                    2) Pakistan and Iran are stealing our water

Oh really? Proof? Oh, you heard it from Jan Saheb who heard his mama tell his kaka about it? OK. If thats your proof, no wonder you failed out of a PhD grad program and are now looking for hand outs in Afghanistan from the Kabul government.

And so now we have Mr Wardag swearing that he knows where Pakistan dumped nuclear waste. Really, how did he identify it as such? Was it marked with the universal symbol the IAEA demands on canisters to mark nuclear waste? If not, how did he determine it was nuclear grade? Did he have a geiger meter? Perhaps he and Mr. Karzai ought to feel more guilty about the vast amounts of depleted uranium their occupation has lodged into Ahmad Shah Abdali's "zamaa the shkolaay Pashtunkhwaa the ghaar saroona?"

BBC, News, BBC News, news online, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

So instead, it appears Mr. Karzai is the one "dumping" waste.

Where the soldiers who dumped it wearing protection suits? Was it some mentally handicapped busing boy who had no idea what he was dumping? How did the US military spend nearly a decade without uncovering this? Had it come to their attention would the Pentagon not be negligent in allowing their troops to fight in such circumstances? Would they not have advertized it widely as another pressure point to push on Pakistan's already battered public image? So Pakistan decided to trek materials from these locations:

                    http://www.google.com/imgres?q=pakis...:0&tx=80&ty=59

Just to dump it in Afghanistan?

This is a sickness inherent to the mind of Mr. Karzai and his fellow band of lazy yellow back cowards.

Instead of taking responsibility for his own series of failures, he has to deflect towards idiocy.

The inherent problem with this is that its like the child who cried wolf one too many times. There are real problems and real issues that plague the Pakistan Afghan conflict and these sorts of shenanigans that soothe the minds of emigres who failed in the West merely contribute to those issues being glossed over.

Perhaps a better term to be utilized is the term parsibaan instead of failed Afghan emigres. That word, Afghan, our heritage, is too good to be used on these flea bags.

funny how this is brought up now when the permanent occupation has been discussed, even though it was mentioned at early stages of the invasion.
Since the IsI connection propaganda didnt work now they are turning to another one,or maybe america wants to dump their uranium waste and needs someone to blame.

how about those deplieted uranium rounds used in Afghanistan which has a half life of over 200 years and cause many tyoes of cancers ,birth deformaties etc.

i guess Karzai wants the bases badly so he needs a story to sell to the public.
