It's because if one quotes an Afghan or Muslim source, then the Munafiqeen will question it. So for Munafiqeen, these sources provide them credibility.

Maybe it was faster to pull up western sources? Maybe he came across the western sources before any other sources ...

Are you guys seriously making a big deal because he used a newspaper from a city in blah blah blah? Aren't there bigger issues ? Did he ever directly deny an argument any of you guys made about the corrupted leader of Afghanistan because you guys posted an article from somewhere in Afghanistan? Even if he had before and he changed his mind now ..I still don't get how pasting western articles is wrong?

just let me tell you one single thing , just go to karz or shirpurkh , they are villageges quiet close to khandahar and ask arround the people ....

nothing new under the sky , however i find it entertaining again how you qoute western sources over and over again , because you feel they are more credible ? or people have to accept them ?
My friend you are wrong. Here is why.

        1. You did not read the article. The paper that wrote the article may be western, by the interviewee is the Kandahari Barakzai Pashtoon who owned the billboard company that was destroyed by the Karzais and their local clown show. So it meets your definition of what a legitimate source is.

        2. The problem with citing the sources that you desire is that the Toronto Star, is generally, agendaless. While most of the American media has made it clear, for example, in the instance of wikileaks, that they are marching to Pentagon drum beats, they still have less of a vested stake in making Karzai look bad.

For instance, if someone cites Baha Zarjan, Fida Yunus, Tarzai, Kawun Kakar, etc you are automatically subject to the criticism of an agenda. And quiet frankly, a number of these folks do have agendas.

Take for instance the royalist Afghan Popalzai author that I have met in person and discussed history with, Mr. Karzai's in law, Dr. Ayyubi. The man has a deep command on the history subsequent to Amanullah Shah, but makes sure to praise the decisions of the monarchy at each and every step.

The Western authors like Michael Scheuer and others have one of two motives

        1. Keep the war going. In which case they generally try to do what the CIA red cell memos impart: sell the war as a just cause war without much underlying fact, relying mainly on emotion.

        2. They want to win the war or leave... so then they know that they have to have an honest view of their enemy. That is exactly why men like Michael Scheuer wrote Through Our Enemies Eyes and Paul Pillar wrote other great fact based reality check books.

As another example take this article I posted from an Afghan anthropologist:

        http://www.pashtunforums.com/politic...al-past-23618/

You dismissed his work despite him showing conclusively that the Amanullah era elites contrived a history centered around the orientalist version of the Kandahar loya jirga that elected Ahmad Shah Abdali.

So in essence, what you want me to do is cite authors that, without warrant or proof, say that

        1. Najibullah was great man (he was not... he was a murderer and a communist)
        2. Pakistan is responsible for all Afghan evils and misfortunes (thats ahistorical, our leaders created the perfect storm scenario to let others meddle into Afghan affairs)
        3. Arabs are responsible for Afghanistan's misforuntes (thats a stretch of the imagination and very similar to number 2).

You are welcomed to cite some sources and direct me to some credentialed authors of your choosing. I am open to any recommendations.

Take, for instance, my request for a book about Ahmad Shah Mossoud. The problem with listening to Afghan authors solely, is that everyone is agenda laced. Pashtuns hate him simply because he is tajik. The Saleh crowed has sanctified and lionized him simply because he represented a certain extent of their views, but not all. So I naturally prefer a source that is outside of the mix of these internicine strifes.

Don't mistaken my comment as a way to discredit the source

I was simply responding to Abbasi's issue with the source.

Had Barakzai posted an Afghan source that confirmed the same story, say someone like Dr. Miraki, another issue would be brought up.

This story is not even the tip of the iceberg.

InshAllah these criminals go down the same road as Hosni and Gaddafi

He has supported the bloodshed of Afghans

He is worse than NajIb. If a Muslim/ Afghan source was posted, some may have a problem with that.

I know it was not the intention. I was just clarifying that some raise issues about sources for no reason.

This story does not even compare to the others when you realize that Hamid Karzai's stamp of approval (literal stamp of approval) is given to every US airstrike and night raid.

The fraud he does - His just cheating nations out of money they supposedly have been giving for aid- and his doing this in the name of Afghanistan. His family has become literally billionaires, having mansions in Dubai, etc.

But, if Gaddafi's wealth and Mubaraks wealth can be frozen, this fool arrived on the dictator scene tooooo late.

^ lol trust me I see what has happened with the family with my own eyes and I know I have seen very little ..

You are right about how people tend to raise issues for no reason ... and yes the story might not compare but I guess whatever could be known should be known.
