  • Dual citizenship Afghanistan Pakistan

I was browsing a closed thread and reference was made to afghans in pakistan; some with dual citizenships.

As far as I know Afghanistan and Pakistan do not have dual citizinship arrangement.

1 Any one here with afghan and pak passport or afghan tazkara and pakistani ID card? Any conflict of documents when travelling across Michni Point or across Speenboldak?

2 Any one here with an European and Afghan passport. Any cross border issues.

    i posses several passports ,

but what does a piece of paper say about you ? nothing .

our true origin lies in our blood and our acts , not a piece of paper .

passports can be bought and sold , given and taken .

it means nothing , i know so many people who dont even speak the language

or know nothing about the country whose passport they posses .

but out of personal expierence i can tell you in the 90s and also today , you could do nothing with an afghan passport , not even opening an bank account or getting a trading license. let alone travelling to other countries for tujarat .

and if you could it was extremly difficult , and i have seen and expierenced alot of difficulties .

No, afghans in pakistan acquire pakistani citizenship through illegal means i.e they are not allowed to do so. Recently NADRA cracked down and cancelled NICs of 90 thousand afghans in first phase. Further actions would be taken by NADRA in this regard.

No Torkham countries dont have citizenship agreements, rather they have a policy for dual citizenship that extends to all countries..Pakistan for example allows dual citizenship, i have a canadian and a pakistani passport..i dont know about Afghanistan's policy but im pretty sure they have the same policy
It's enough that I know, Our time had a home, In your heart..Was a place..But the glass always breaks..

          agreed with above points.

my question is about legality of dual passports - that's been answered. other question was about potential trouble when entering border crossing on one passport for convenience & that passport not having stamps to show journeys.

i was thinking of applying for a european passport and looking for PF memebers experience of having two.

There must be a proper procedure and pathway for afghans to get pakistani citizenship but as our system is corrupt so all most all afghans acquire pakistani citizenships through bribe. But according to NADRA , every afghan has to register himself in pakistan, and "refugee cards" are for them.

lol ...in pakistan you can even get a medical degree through bribe...let alone a passport.

As far as I know certain countries have restrictions on how many citizenships you can have. For instance, if you are a saudi, there are criminal penalties for getting another citizenship....if you are chinese, and you get another citizenship, you are no longer chinese.

There is no prohibition for Afghans to hold multiple citizenships. It ain't that hard to get an Afghan passport anyway...Not like we have some kind of data bank and records are kept lol....

As for pakies...who on God's green earth wants a paki passport? Pakis don't even want a paki passport.

torkham , as long you have a taskira , or birth certificate that you are born in afghanistan and it is matching to your age , dont bother with getting a european passport

we have taskires ranging from the days of zahir shah till the 80s najibullahs times , they were also used when we bought a house during the 90s in the talibans time , as id.

but in general you will loose your "afghan passport " but as laszy as those farsisaban parchami so called consuls are ,it will take along time till its recognized that you are no longer afghan citizen , which is total nonsence .

and if you are travelling for example to a nation which have close ties to afghanistan and you are still recognized as afghan citizen by the afghan goverment , than if anything happens ,you are handed over to afghan authorities or just sent away.

as i said important is that you own a taskira , thats the most important thing for future business or stuff you have to do in the watan .

goverments come and go in afg , but a taskira was recognized by all as an universal ID

abasin lala, I have my afghan passport, but i suffered brain-clots getting my tazkira. when my father passed away, I was in working in germany, went back for the janaza, and then tried to collect baba's passport and papers, i could not find anything . . . i could guess which relative took them for what ever badal he wanted to venge for not marrying a cousin, but i had no proof. so i in qalat (zabul, fathers home),and the nahya there, as chemical brother said, have no electronic records, i suffered at MoI in kabul, i paid kaldari's, dollars of rishwat to get it, . . . . and still no luck . . always missing something, . . . and not having enough holiday time.

now i have some connections and i am trying again. my father's land, my land, is still legally not mine, and hence tazkara so important.

piece of advice, if you aint got tazkara, get it sorted, make sure you have access to your father's tazkara too. i was born in nangarhar, i don't have a birth cert., luckily birthplace is clearly stated in my passport. i am sure you know, in villages when certificates are hidden away, they are wrapped in cloth, left in some wall cabinet or stuffed in an old tin sanduuk, when you need it it aint there!!!

as for european passport, you are right, i dont really need it, i have no lust to travel anywhere but home (afghanistan) and work here in middle-east.

                    thanks everyone.

legal way: you need your father's tazkara or passport, or your (officially afghan) uncles to verify your relationship

but since you are in karachi and have pak passport, afganistan will not issue you their passport, and if you are eligible, you will have to give up pak passport.

but i think you as pakistani passport holder with say illegally obtained afg passport, trouble - spy???

illegally: i dont know, but alchemist said it can be done, ask him.

Pakis will sell their mothers for money (according to US General) which seems to be the main problem let alone providing Afghans fraudulant passports/Paki documents. Loopy is probably complicit in the most serious type of such acts.

Pashtun ta pa border bandey chandani zhagh na ka ye. Da Kandahar par khwa war rawan sa, Achakzeyan, Kakaran oh Noorzeyan prata dey hagha hisz nawayey. As messed as this might sound wrora, hagha khalgo che Pashto nada izda, hogho ta der hardtime warkayey, Pashto zhabey wala ta hiz nawayey, kedai se che pinzos rupee darsa waghwaraey, worst case scenario. Now the aforementioned is ground reality.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
