Suicide bomber turns apologetic

Confirming the worst fears of the U.S. and the rest of the world, the teenaged would-be suicide bomber who was nabbed by the police before he could detonate himself along with his associates at the Sufi shrine of Sakhi Sarwar in south Punjab last Sunday has revealed that over 300 people are being trained in North Waziristan along the Afghanistan border to become suicide bombers.

What is worse is the age of many of these suicide bombers. A number of those who have exploded themselves in various parts of the country in the first quarter of this year were teenagers; this young lad was all of 14 years. Apologetic about his act, Umar Fidai said he and his associates - who were also teenagers - were told that they were being taken to Afghanistan. “I am ashamed of my act. We killed innocent people,” he was reported as stating.

According to Umar, the training camps were located in Mir Ali and the trainees included Uzbeks, Tajiks and Arabs besides some people from Punjab. The training includes indoctrination and besides bombing techniques. While targeting Sufi shrines, the suicide bombers are specifically told to detonate themselves near the place where “people worship the dead”.

The mystical Sufi tradition of the country's dominant Barelvi school of Islam has been coming under repeated attack in recent months as the Al Qaeda and the Taliban - who adhere to a more austere view of the religion - regard the other streams of Islam as deviant. Also, the attacks on more public spaces like shrines are seen as a bid by the terrorists to work around the tight security that has been put in place around government establishments and high-profile targets.

This is the thing, there are more Talib supporters in the West than in the Pashtun region.

Maiwand, is suffering from an identity crisis mixed with a toxic blend of Salafism.

I strongly disagree and insist that it is not because of people like him or anyone else that Islam has bad name in the West! Nor is it because of whoever was involved with whatever happened on Septtember 11 in the US, although that event certainly RE-fuelled their hatred. For those of you who do not actively observe and analyze the kuffar societies around the world (not only the West but China or India also), this may be strange or difficult to understand. I assure you that their are particular elements of their societies that passionately hate us/view us as a sick, sad joke or a social parasite and these elements exist independently. The reasons why are complex and multi dimensional. A book could be written on this subject alone but many of those sorts of people have little or no knowledge of Islam. They know that they hate us, they know the propaganda, etc. Conclusion is that this "bad name" of Islam has NOTHING to do with the personal beliefs and ideas of Maiwand or any single person. The root of the problem is within the kuffar, it is in their own heart, mind and soul.

The West want to spread so called democracy to every country so they can use it economically. It is not different. Support - whether military, financial, material or only moral is still support. The geographic location of a man bears no weight on the validity of his support, personal sympathies or ideas. When I am in Afghanistan my sympathies and ideas are the same as when I am in Pakistan and the West. Are my personal sympathies only valid when I am standing on Afghan soil? That's for individual interpretation. If a man has fired a few shots, so to speak, against the invaders in Afghanistan and that man left and now lives in apartment in Austria are his past actions and ideas now invalid? Is he a hypocrite when he speaks out against the invaders? I'm just posing theorhetical situations. The point is that your ideas and actions no matter what they are, will always be invalid in the eyes of some men. This is unavoidable and natural but they are not invalid in the eyes of Allah (SWT) and in the eyes of sane reasonable men.
