We are discussing facts here, not fantasy stories. Give me evidence that these militant secularists were in fact Hamid Gul's henchmen

And you can check it for yourself, Daud Khan was accommodating the religious groups by moving closer to Muslim nations. This is one of the reasons the militant secularists
    Murdered him and his family

This is historical fact and it is not up for fantasizing debates

Furthermore, there is no question about Daud Khan's political leanings. He was a moderate secular, and that can not be debated.

However, it appears that his main goal was to make Afghanistan a strong, independent state much like the way both India and Pakistan developed. This would have served Afghanistan well.

Towards the period before he was assassinated by the militant communists/secularists, he was moving the nation closer to Muslim nations such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Iran. Now, these Muslim nations were only Muslim in name, and operated differently. However, the point is had Afghanistan been left alone, and had these Secular/Communist militants not taken this action, Afghanistan would have been a strong Islamic state today controlled by the rural population.

With increasing relations with Saudi Arabia, it is no question that Afghanistan was moving towards a direction of Islam. Obviously, Daud Khan was doing that for trade reasons, but the point is this would have benefited the Afghan nation, and today I think it is fair to say it would have been a nuclear armed state that no nation would ever dare cross.

With closer ties with Muslim nations, it would have morphed into that. Afghanistan needs to be left alone.

Afghans have won this war, but these wars would not have been necessary had it not been for the militant secularists/communists militant activities

Is this a story? Not factual enough for you, or is this BBC article article written by non other then Hamid Gul?
I was not aware that historical facts were up for debate. This is taking tin foil hat wearing to a whole new level.

              Body of Afghan leader identified

Mr Khan will be remembered as a reformer

The body of first Afghan President Mohammad Daud Khan has been identified three decades after he was killed in a Communist coup, officials say.
The discovery was made by members of a government-appointed commission during excavation at a military base outside the capital, Kabul.
Daud Khan overthrew the last king of Afghanistan, Zahir Shah, in 1973.
His death five years later ushered in a decade of Soviet occupation followed by the rise of the Taleban.
The former president is to be given a special funeral ceremony by the government.
              Teeth moulds
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health told the Associated Press news agency that the former president's body was among dozens discovered at two mass graves in the Pul-e-Charkhi area, east of Kabul, six months ago.
The spokesman said that Mr Khan and 17 family members and associates were executed inside the presidential palace in Kabul during a communist-inspired coup in 1978.
He said that teeth moulds were used to identify the late president's body but the determining factor was a small golden Koran that was found with his remains.
"This Koran was given to him as a gift by the king of Saudi Arabia when he went on a trip to the kingdom,"
              the spokesman said.
Correspondents say that many Afghans see Mr Khan's murder as one of their country's darkest days, because it was followed by 10 years of Soviet occupation, civil war and the rise of the Taleban, who themselves were toppled by US-led troops in 2001.
It is estimated that about two million people have been killed since the 1978 coup and more than six million have fled the country.
Mr Khan is remembered for his efforts to counter the influence of Islamists and for establishing a republic. He introduced wide ranging reforms and towards the end of his life favoured relations with the West over the Soviet Union.

and here are more facts for you to digest about Daud Khan's disconnect with the false nationalists.

Daud Khan still favored a state-centered economy, and, three years after coming to power, he drew up an ambitious seven-year economic plan (1976-83) that included major projects and required a substantial influx of foreign aid. As early as 1974, Daud Khan began distancing himself from over-reliance on the Soviet Union for military and economic support. That same year, he formed a military training program with India , and opened talks with Iran on economic development aid. Daud Khan also turned to other oil-rich Muslim nations, such as Saudi Arabia , Iraq , and Kuwait , for financial assistance.

Pashtunistan zealots confidently expected the new president to raise this issue with Pakistan , and in the first few months of the new regime, bilateral relations were poor. Efforts by Iran and the United States to cool a tense situation succeeded after a time, and by 1977 relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan had notably improved. During Daud Khan’s March 1978 visit to Islamabad , an agreement was reached whereby President Mohammad Zia ul-Haq of Pakistan released Pashtun and Baloch militants from prison in exchange for Daud Khan withdrawing support for these groups and expelling Pashtun and Baloch militants taking refuge in Afghanistan .

oh, I thought it was the Chicken Shawarma sandwiches? Well, yes, it was oil, but these militant communists/secularists would also not have even that. How much instability did these militant secularists/communists cause?

Daud Khan was not secular enough for them.

The militant secularists/communists started this war. this is what we are discussing, and the Muslims are finishing what the militant secularists started.

We are not discussing Daud Khan's political leanings, but the people who killed him and his family, and the Communist/Secular revolution.

Militant secularists/communists killed him. This is a fact.

Daud was a secularist. His goverment was incompetent. He didn't achieve anything he could not bring progress, that's way communist came in action. If it wasn't secular communists then your Jihadi friends would do the job. Don't forget the Jihadist and Communist movement started at the same time, both were the reaction to the 100 years of Islamic misgoverning under a monarch that didn't gave a dam about his peopel or his country. For the Islamist it was not enough Islamic and for the Communists it was not enough secular. But steal most of the damaged and sufering was caused by the Islamic groups. Raping stealing and bombing civiliance was there daily job. So please don't play the victim role here everybody knows the history.

100 percent agree with you roara.

Daud, himself played two powers against eachother for influence, which led to him being taken out by the Communists. He failed to fully accomplish his plans for a Pashtunistan.

                      However, I loved him dearly!

He was constantly attacked by Pakistani funded Islamists. I am sure it was Hekmatyar and Ahmad Shah Masood/Rabbani who were trained by Pak fauge at the Cherat Army camp to fight him, I am also certain it was Hamid gul who led the operation to attack his forces at pansjir with Ahmad Shah Masood, so that goes to show, the Islamists(Mujahideen) had eyes on the prize and would have killed him anyway, if the communists didnt do it.

Which ones are you speaking of? Please list their names. Daud Daud is dead. Jan Khan is dead. Rabbani is dead. Herodotus would ponder what an illogical decision they made?

why are they not opposing the americans ? or did they also turned secularist ? or are american also muslims now ? or is their a double standart ?
These warlords you speak of, like the militant communists/secularists are bought and owned by their own greed.

so if we would follow such a logic and argumentation , i could make also the taliban responsible for the american invasion , because they gave osama bin laden refuge, and he was the main reason they invaded ?

of course we all know they have other interessts but this was the upfront reason .
The Taliban were a response to factional infighting between the Mujahideen groups and the crime that plagued Afghanistan.

Osama Bin Laden was invited to Afghanistan by Barhanuddin Rabbani and Ahmad Shah Masood. These two wanted him to mediate between them and the Taliban who had come to power.

US needed no reason to invade Afghanistan, and it was never proven that Osama was behind 9/11. Secondly, 9/11 was not the start point of this all. The US has been meddling in the Muslim world since 1953, especially, and even before. Even after, they attacked Iraq in 2003 for not reason. Remember, they attacked Afghanistan in 1998 if you recall again over false pretexts.

and as a goverment one should know when to play and when to keep you fingers still especially if the bet is high .
                        that is true

its even funnier how afghans take such a high moral standart and muselmantob standart on their selfes , but if it comes to ask for the same standart on others i doesnt count , like pakistan like saudi arabia and the rest, it doesnt count .
I agree about this. Afghans honor is unrivaled. Others have no shame. Honor will always pay off.

so if there were buddha statues it was shirk , even the hazaras didnt pray to them lol , but if there are ali jinah statues and the ones of others all over pakistan , than its okay and no one cares .

History shows that victory is given to those who defend their homeland from foreign invasion. Therefore, in accordance with the historical record, the victor always gets to implement their vision for their country since they defended and protected it. the same will happen. As long as the other political philosophies support foreign invasion rather than the defense of their homeland, they will always be insignificant.

Militant secularists/ communist killed Daud Khan, not Hamid Guls henchmen.

                            This was their Communist revolution.

If you don't believe that, then you are only lying to yourself. This is the historical fact, not a fairy tale.

They then supported Soviet war on Afghanistan. This is a historical fact.

Then the Mujahideen movement was formed as a reaction to this all, another historical fact.

Truth, your Islamist banter is amusing.

The Islamists worked hand in hand with Zulfiqar ALi Bhutto the Secular Socialist Pakistani to overthrow Daud.

Your traitorous Islamists were hiding in Pakistan and planning his death with guidance of Pakistan ISI.

The difference is the Communists killed him first, otherwise your Islamists were already being trained by the Pakis to kill him to prevent the spread of Pashtun Nationalist sentiment that was already spreading throughout the Tribal region of Pakhtunkhwa(FATA).

Your Islamists were in Pakistan, begging the Pakistani authorities to protect them.

They continued to stay there till they with the Americans,Jews,Arabs and Pakis got the opportunity to lure the soviets in and turn Afghanistan into a Islamist cense pit packed with Arabs, Punjabis, Kashmiris, other degenerate lunatics from abroad.

Thats where the likes of Punjabi militant groups like Lashkar e tayba were born in Kunar etc!

Look at the following picture of Daud Khan and now tell me does he look like your average Islamist nut job nutter that stones little girls and gets excited at seeing defence less women being lashed in public?
