The problem is not in country, pakistan is rich in natural resources, the problem is in people who can not manage it. Indians are more desperate to move out to other countries, it does'nt mean india is barren country like afghanistan. Subcontinent was always one of richest zone in history , thats why it attracted invaders and european colonizers. On the other hand afghanistan is important only because it is gateway to central asia otherwise it is very boring country. It is landlocked and always is desparate for access to sea. Most country have economic interests and its long term policy is governed by it.
Pakistan cant live with a Independ powerful Afganistan . it need to have a puppet Af goverment or better to merge Afganistan as another state of pakistan. the reason is oil and gas from the rich untapped central asian republics. with oil and gas pipelines / oil and gas lease fields under its control it can hold great leverage in world politics and do great economic beneft for its people..
Same with kashmir. it is not love for kashmir people .Most of the water for pakistan is flowing from rivers originating from kashmir and India can choke the water supply whenever it wants to.
