Judge William Adams beats daughter for using the internet

2004: Aransas County Court-At-Law Judge William Adams took a belt to his own teenage daughter as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time. She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father's backwards views. The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist. Judge William Adams is not fit to be anywhere near the law system if he can't even exercise fit judgement as a parent himself. Do not allow this man to ever be re-elected again. His "judgement" is a giant farce. Signed, Hillary Adams, his daughter.

The US is an interesting country in that it is divided into rural versus urban
The North South divide persists in some ways despite the Civil War occuring over 100 years ago.
Most Afghans raised in the US, I suspect are raised on the coasts or in the North. The highest concentration of midwestern Afghans is in Nebraska.
I was born in and raised in the south, in a small town, and have some familiarity with these matters.

          The South is known as
          1) The bastion of conservative baptist ideologies. There are leading religious figures like Pastor Hagee, the deceased Fallwell, Josh McDowell etc. They all hail from this area. They have huge followings and can mobilize people rather easily.
          Brain Washing ( Jesus Camp ''Highlights'' ) - YouTube[/URL]
          2) Many folks (but not all) own guns and bunkers underground with huge collections of guns.
          3) The Southern view of the American civil war was that they preferred regional autonomy (state rights and independence) above the central authority of the federal government. They refer to it (the oldest ones at least) as the war of northern aggression.
          4) I have heard, but not confirmed, that a large number of the nation's military derives from the south (hence tennessee being called the Volunteer state). Texas, is jokingly referred to as not being a part of the south, but the cultural overlap is very obvious.
          5) The southern dialect is replete with fire and brimstone terminology.
          6) Some of the cities of the south, for instance Atlanta, Nashville, etc are a little more liberal because outsiders come and study there.
          7) They have a huge emphasis on custom called southern hospitality.
          8) Some are willing to go to extreme lengths and have underground support to combat ideologies like pro abortion stances. Take Eric Rudolph for instance... the famous abortion clinic bomber that hid out for years and escaped into the woods, at times likely being shelterd by like minded people.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Robert_Rudolph
          9) The republican party is able to mobilize many religious minded people to vote for conservative stances espoused by, but not necessarily enacted upon by GW Bush for instance.

          Sound familiar yet?

The point is that despite being beat down by the Union under Lincoln, despite culture norms shifting toward liberality... there is resistance to change.

Election cycle after election cycle this same phenomena of the democrats claiming to be the party of moderate values and fair mindedness... a celebration of secularism, and the republicans claim to be the God Party. Yet both are the same in terms of the big picture policy issues and even end up supporting the same internal major domestic policies (bail out plan).

Where I lived, to be "get a whoopin with Papa's belt" wasn't a big deal and happened often. The common phrase used by the Baptists was "spare the rod and spoil the child"

"He who spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes" (Proverbs 13:24) and "Withhold not correction from a child: for if thou strike him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and deliver his soul from hell." (Proverbs 23:13-14)

The point is that people who respect the US and attempt to brag about the accomplishments of the Western powers, especially that of the US, have to answer for the fact that out of all the Western Powers, America remains the most religious:

          http://www.ur.umich.edu/0304/Nov24_03/15.shtml

This evolution of the "perfect union" is an experience of nearly 400 years on the American continent.

To assume that Judge Adams is an outlier is absurd... in fact, his daughter regrets releasing the tape because she knows that societal pressure on her, if she resides in Texas, is going to fall on the side of her father.
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleoco...hern_tradition

For that matter, Texas is the state that actively pursued the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham when Governor Rick Perry refused to listen to the world's leading arsony professor regarding the complete improbability that Mr. Willingham set the fire that killed his children. Mr. Willingham stood out because he was irreligious, listened to heavy metal, and just didnt live like the typical texan:
          http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2...7fa_fact_grann

The point is that many here think that one can insta bake Afghanistan or Iraq into... pooof, like magic, a United States like country/empire by force of will. That is ahistoric absurdity, a low intelligence minded pursuit, and a poor familiarity with the history of the US and western democracy in general.

Bottom line is that you never force a judge adams to change... note that France cannot fly in, put a gun to his head, and make him change his mentality. Mexicans cannot clamor across the border and force the south to change its traditions or baptist mentality to that of the roman catholic religious mentality. And in the words of Sarah Palin... "you betcha" that if a Chinese base was built in Alabama to attempt to impose secularism in all aspects of southern life, an all out insurgency would flare up as well:

          http://articles.cnn.com/2003-11-13/j...rges?_s=PM:LAW

That change has to come on its own and the Judge's electorate of compatriots have to set societal standards.

Of course we know that generalizing is unwise and anyone who participates in constant generalizations of other people is probably not too intelligent themselves. However, I think that the point of his post is obvious. Especially when he says, "should another country go to war to free these women and children ?" It's easy for Westerners to look at others and cast broad judgement upon the entire group based on isolated instances. But what if those others begin engaging in the same behavior towards them? Who is right? The only difference is that we currently do not have the military ability to make this a reality but they do. And they act upon their impulses with impunity everyday in the territories they occupy.

Saudi man kills daughter for converting to Christianity

Riyadh: A Saudi man working with the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice recently killed his daughter for converting to Christianity.

According to sources close to the victim, the religious police member had cut the tongue of the girl and burned her to death following a heated debate on religion.

The death of the girl sent shockwaves and websites where the victim used to write with various nick names have allocated special space to mourn her, while some others closed temporarily in protest.

According to the Saudi Al Ukhdoud news website, the victim wrote an article on the blog of which she was a member under the nickname “Rania'' a few days before her murder.

She wrote that her life became an ordeal after her family members grew suspicious about her after a religious discussion with them.

She said that her brother found some Christian articles written by her as well as a cross sign on her computer screen. Since then he started to insult her and blamed the internet for pushing her to change her religion.

The “Free Copts'' website published a message which it received from a friend of the victim, revealing that the killer is in police custody and that he is being investigated for an honour related crime.

Saudi religious scholars have frequently warned against the dangers of Christian internet websites and satellite TV channels which attract Muslim youngsters to change their religion.

They decreed that watching these channels or browsing these websites which call for conversion to Christianity by various means is against the teachings of Islam

I find it amusing, how one, uses one case of domestic violence to accuse the West of being uncivilised. What makes me abit curious, as to why is Al hanif, living in France, if its also so uncivilised to his standards?

Only a sane and educated person can see the difference between the living standards, laws and rights of a citizen of the West, with that from a person from Al hanifs world, and you will get a better idea of what I am trying to say.

Domestic violence happens everywhere, but sadly in Al hanif's world, it results in honor killings/murders while in the West justice is served and people remain intact.

In our mythology there are to evil spirits who destroy mankind, Vishap and Yakhvay.
Vishap, represents ignorance, brutality, cruelness. People whom he influenced were cruel barbaric people, with hate in their hearts, they were simply brutal and ignorant.
The other one, Yakhvay , presented the cruel intellegence, he was to coward to use direct violence, he used lies, he used to make people weak by mind, to increase the negative wishes in their hearts. He used his knowldge to manipulate, he wasn't directly ignorant and could controll himself, but he knew how use knowledge to controll people and influence negatively.
According to the legend, mankind came in the dark centruries when Yakhvay could control the ignorant but cruel and violent Vishap for his aims.
Ա՜խ, ընկել եմ քար ու քարափ,
                  Իմ սրբություն, ե՛տ արի, ե՛տ,

hhahaha so the way they wear a turban is proof they're not Taliban?

I don't even need to comment on how ridiculous that is. There are Taliban who don't even wear turbans ....so such an argument is absurd.
