Where is your map? Where is your poll dear?Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

You must be kidding me. Which is why I was pissed off. 40% of Herat are Pashtu speakers, Herat is actually bilingual in both Dari and Pashtu, this is a fact. Herat suffers from Religious wars because Shias are some 25% of the Province and represented mainly in the City itself. Although most of the time they are fine with Sunni, but Sunni people sometimes gets sick of them, during the religious civil war, as westerners labeled it as Ethnic civil war in Herat (Hazara uprise of 1990s) there was major clashes which was why During Taliban, Herat was one of the Easiest province to be captured because of the Love from the people and hate towards Shias. Herat remained as Peaceful throughout the Taliban rule.Originally posted by shlombayI like your map better.
Timbaktus map was ok. But he gave Herat to Iran.
Historically speaking Herat was the border which protected rest of Afghanistan against Western Invasions. Never mind Alexander or Darius or Sassanians, but recent Persian defeat by the Iranians. Yes When Zaman Shah lost, the whole war against Iran was actually won by Population of Herat. Herat is a historical land of Pashtuns. Those who don't know our Babas (Forefathers) barrier is in Herat.
Herat is the reason why we gave up a small mini town of that era which was under Greater Kandahar domination was given up. Her name is still same as our province Zabul. Where 89% of the people are actually Pashtu speakers. The many great sacrifices our Kings made for Herat from Ghurids up to Qajar is now given up? Wow I won't accept it at all. Herat is like given up another Quetta.
By no means We already made one mistake against British by givinup Pashtunistan. Which is why we have been cursed by Allah for accepting to give up our body parts to British so that the rest of us can live peacefully.Last edited by Nick; 06-04-2010, 01:53 AM.Happy Ramadan everyone.
