  • Creattion of a Pashtun only state is the wrong thing to do!

as salaamu aleikoum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Some Pashtuns believe the solution of our problem is to create a state by Pashtuns for Pashtuns.

They forget how dispersed Pashtuns are across Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Oman and UAE.

Majority of Pashtuns live outside the core areas. Those who do live in core areas have limited resources. No access to sea, no access to important trade connections, no infrastructure and no facilities to make quick progress possible.

PLus, there are dozens of ethic minorities who live among Pashtuns such as the Brahwis, Siraikis, Shari, Nuristanis, Tagawis, Tajiks, Hazara's, HIndko's Kalahs etc etc.

If we want to create a super-state, we need an all inclusive state that serves the interest of all people in the region.

We need to use our common resources, facilities and infrastructure, we need to rely on one another respecting one anothers culture and language and coooperate for a better future.

There is no solution in creating more borders and imposing more limitation of trade, travel and communication.

We should learn to distinguish different matters from one another.

The fact that our language has an infirior position is not a problem that can be solved by creating new states and imposing new borders on ourselves. At the end of day, we need jobs, we need people to find food and livelihood. We need expertise, know-how we need division of labor and specialism.

We need a wider, vaster network instead of confinement in valleys with limited resources for the sake of language.

A strong Pashtun state would be for Pashtuns what Israel is for Jews. A strong Afghanistan, dominated by Pashtuns, will look after the interests of Pashtuns all over the world. However, that day might come well after the flesh has rotten off from our bones. A strong Khyber-Pashtunkhwa would do nothing, in case anyone's wondering.

Unfortunately, Pashtun domination is in decline as far as Afghanistan is concerned. I see Afghanistan as a dominion of Tajiks, Pashtuns and Uzbeks (the first two being equals now) as opposed to being a Pashtun-dominated state as it was before the wars.

I agree that we need education and development (human and infrastructural) but we also need, at least in the long run, a state that would take care of us and threaten the *******s who kill our people on the streets, spit on them and mock their culture and heritage. We can't be like the Kurds, who are being bombed and oppressed by their Muslim brothers. We also can't be like the Basque-people, who are being subjugated by their Catholic brothers.

For a people to be able to exert any sort of influence, they must have a state of their own. It's imperative. How we achieve that state and when we achieve it are questions to which I don't have answers myself. But I know that we can't wait for "Pashtun unity" first because it is something that never was and, unfortunately, never will be.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

The Kurdish comparison is apt. They are entirely surrounded by Muslims, but they are considered an incovenience and that fuels the racism towards them by other Muslims. Unable to protect their language in most places, they are being slowly lost to Arabic, Turkish, Farsi, Armenian etc and major splits in their surviving language that cannot create any sense of cohesiveness, shared past or future.

It is rather tragic that we begin with the view that the "inferior" status of Pashto might be considered the reason for our lack of progress. The mentality that it should only remain in the valleys spoken by a few is what needs challenging. Considering that there are many Panjabees and Farsiwans who claim Pashtoon ancestry is an example of that.

Pashtoons can benefit their language and status by raising the profile. All languages - properly patronised - can be used as languages of commerce, trade and learning. Historically, the Persians, Arabs, Hindustanis, the English etc. have been very good at that. It is this kind of cultural and linguistic marketing that necessitated the need to learn the languages that has strengthened them.

A strong Afghanistan that is dominated by Pashtoon interests, is, quite rightly the place to begin.

Having a one Pashtun state will solve alot of problems for Pashtuns.

We need to let go of our past history and regions we conquered, because as you can see its very counter productive.

Pashtuns will rule over Pashtuns, this is what is good and will resolve all the problems.

Uzbeks and Tajiks, can decide their own fate, besides faith, they are of no relationship to us at all and have done nothing at all for Pashtuns.

Holding onto this Afghan Unity talk is non sense and never works, Once Pashtuns are brought to one platform as one people under one state, then nobody can tell us what to do.

Obviously, Pashtuns will need to leave their regions, but one must give up something for the benefit for the people as a whole.

        Regards

You can't compare the situation of pashtuns in pakistan with those in Afghanistan.

In Afghanistan pashtuns are spread all over northern and western Afghanistan. I am one of those pashtuns who has family in the north. There are literally millions of pashtuns in the north. Kunduz which is located next to Tajikistan is full of Ghilzai pashtuns. What will we do with them? They own alot of land there so they will never give it up. These pashtuns still speak in pashto and have not forgotten their language so we can't even call them farsiwan. look at these pashtuns from kunduz. Are they not as pashtuns as me and you?

Anyways an independent pashtunistan will be be too dependent on its neighbour because It won't have access to the sea and also it will lose access to Amu Darya and central asia in the north. We will be surrounded by Iran, khorasan and pakistan and we know they are certainly not our friends.

In my opinion the best solution is keeping pashto and Dari as official languages and creating a just government supported by all peoples. We can make it federal and divide it between north in south in terms of administration but we should never totally seperate it. Greater Afghanistan is in the intrests of both farsiwan and pashtun as long as we respect each other and co operate.
As if the Farsiwans will accept another millions of Pashtuns from Pakhtunkhwa haha, they wont accept a loy Afghanistan.

No matter what state your in, you will always be surrounded by such people, I feel the sea from Bolochistan will do pashtuns good, we can make good relations with them and start fromt here.

Let me correct you there, If a Pashtun state is made, there will be no more Pakistan on the map.

            There are reasons why I would like to support an independent Pukhtunistan, but also reasons why I wouldn't;

-I would support it because that will unite Pukhtoons worldwide and finally we won't have the chance any more to moan about being oppressed. We won't have a Persianized Pukhtoon leader and nor Urdufied Pukhtoon leader. The first and only spoken language will be Pukhto and we don't have to worry about losing our own language in our own country. Even Tajiks will stop interfering with us because they rather want a state of their own instead of troubling Pukhtoons. And nor will Pakistan be able any more to use Pukhtoons of Pakistan against Pukhtoons of Afghanistan, or the other way round. We will be known as Pukhtoons and not as Afghani refugees in Pakhtunkhwa or Pakistani immigrants in Jalalabad.

-But reasons why I am afraid of supporting it is because educated Pukhtoons in Afghanistan are completely Persianized, and educated Pukhtoons in Pakistan have completely been Urdufied. Reason why we are in such state is because of illiteracy and you will be crack if you seriously want Kuchis to rule over an entire nation. We haven't got access to the sea, no access to current educational materials, we won't receive economical support from anyone since we will have enemies North of us and South of us and since they both (Pakistan and 'Khorasan') are technologically and intellectually more progressive than us, we can be finished within a jiffy. We are very easily manipulative and it won't take anyone long enough to make our tribes fight with one another and even chances are there we will support a Taliban-like government in our country; Which will mean nil percent progress in economy, nil percent progress in education, and suffering for women for the rest of their lives.

But Allah Tallah is great, if the killing on Pukhtoons only stops today then we Pukhtoons will be more than just lucky! Getting an independent Pukhtunistan is far out of reach. We can't even get rid of 40 NATO country from our provinces and then we dream of fighting against Pakistan for Pukhtunistan.........
