Kabul - A teacher and two of his daughters were killed late Saturday, allegedly in an operation by the NATO-led international forces in central Wardak province, an official said.
'NATO troops conducted an operation in Chak-e-Wardak district and during the operation, a teacher, and two of his daughters (Aged 18 and 20) were killed,' said Shahidullah Shahid, the provincial governor's spokesman.
'The teacher was a cousin of a Taliban commander and the forces were searching for the commander, who escaped the operation.'
Shahid said they are investigating the incident to determine if the teacher was affiliated with the Taliban.
The press office of the international forces in a statement said two females who had been killed in the Wardak operation were armed.
'Once inside the building, it was discovered that two of the three armed individuals were females,' the statement said.
A NATO spokesman in Kabul avoided giving further details about whether the Taliban commander had been arrested.
