LAHORE, (SANA): The Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said that the US and the NATO force from forty countries were claiming the martyrdom of Osama bin Laden as their victory which was a clear proof of their failure.
He was addressing the district Ijtema of the JI Attock here on Sunday.
He declared Salman Taseer’s killer Mumtaz Qadri as a national hero and said the trial judge had told Mumtaz Qadri that his (Qadri’s ) decision was in line with the Quran and the Sunnah but he was convicting him under the British law.
He said it was unfortunate that even after 64 years of independence, we had not been able to bring our laws in accordance with the Shariah which spoke of the incompetence and the indifference of the rulers.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that changes were taking place and the country could face more difficult times in the days ahead.
He said that from the very beginning, the JI had been of the view that Pakistan’s support to the US in the so called war on terror would harm the country’s solidarity and independence and also disturb law and order.
The JI chief said that all the parties attending the APC had supported the JI stance and agreed that the government should go for dialogue with the combatants.
He said the terrorist activities in this country were going on with the connivance of the US, India, Israel and the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan who wanted to destabilize this country. He said the APC had also agreed that the country’s foreign and domestic policies must be reviewed.
The JI chief said that the US threats to Islamabad were hollow and Washington only wanted to punish this country for its defeat in Afghanistan.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that the US puppets ruling the country were still undecided about the implementation of the APC resolution as they did not have the courage to take bold decisions against Washington.
The meeting was also addressed by Dr Farid Piracha and Mian Muhammad Aslam.
Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s sister Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, in his telephonic address from Karachi, said that her sister had been successful in the trial so far and now it was the trial of the Pakistani nation to secure her freedom.
