Regarding this discussion, Afghan society needs an Iron fist leader to civilize it, because lets be honest, Afghan society is lawless and backward. Its a fact, throughout the ages, from Amanullah Khan to Najib, anyone who brings in female rights, equality and modernisation, the backward side of Afghan society always rebels through unsavory methods, take for example the "Herat uprising".

When the Afghan authorities, enforced female education, opened up schools for women and girls, that taught them math,science, you know, other things besides Quranic studies, Arab folklore and the usual Saudi nonsense, a man by the name of Sher Ahmad Maladani, started a uprising, whereby he slaughtered girls, many girls who went to school, and based his deluded cause on the grounds that female education is against his Afghan principles and traditions, and yes he had support too, from like minded idoits.

However, one can not blame Najib for what he had done, it had to be done, every nation has been built on bloodshed, and Afghanistan is no different.

If a man who suffers from Jahiltub, wants to kill girls,women, attack others in a civilized society, the Army/Police have the full right to teach that individual a lesson and toturing them is best suited as a good punishment, I understand, its a habit, especially in Afghan soceity for criminals to avoid being punished by paying bribes, never happened under Najib, same with the Taliban, I am sure many girls were sold off to elderly mullahs to avoid punishment as I have heard.

Najib would have brought unity to Afghanistan, both through a unified class system, to female education and rights, sadly, we lost, and returned back to the Backwardness, jahiltub and lawless as we see today.
