"Salam-u-Alaikom In the name of Allan the merciful Dear press corps,
today we are all together in regards to our dearest Mujahid, country
lover , brother Prof. Rabbani. We will be discussing his martyrdom and
how he was martyred. First, I will talk about the way I remember him and
how I used to call him. When we were young and fighting Jihad against
the Soviets, we always called him dear Professor. Before I was going to
US, dear Prof. was going to a trip to Iran and Dubai and we had our last
meeting. Day before yesterday, an assassin who came as a messenger
coming to relay an important message to our dear Prof. As soon as the
Prof. found this out, he ended his trip and came back hastily for the
peace process and was martyred instead. The person who came in the name
of messenger of peace, he was an intent killer and a terrorist. He
deceived Islam , peace and Afghanistan in doing so. Before I was going
to New York to attend the UN General Assembly, Mr. Stanickzai informed
me that someone has come from the Taliban with a CD voice message from
Mawlawi Enayat Maghdoom to give to Prof. Rabbani. I, the same as Prof.
Rabbain, hastily said to bring the message and I listened to it before
leaving to New York.
The message referred to Prof. as very respectful and peaceful man, it
was an extremely polite and kind message. They used the word of Islam,
peace and Afghanistan intentionally. They deceived our leader, Mujahed
by using this message of peace and that is why Prof. came and became a
martyr for peace in Afghanistan.
Everyone who knew the Prof., had a great deal of respect for him. When
my brother was killed, Prof. was outside the country and gave me his
condolences and when he came back to Afghanistan, he came to see me
personally. He came to Kandahar even though this was not good for his
health.
People of Afghanistan want peace and that is what the Prof. was working
for and was martyred for. He was our dear national figure and told me
that this process is the best thing for Afghanistan. He said that it was
his wish to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan through the
establishment of this High Peace Council. I thought that this was a
great idea and that is why I named him as the Chairman of the High Peace
Council. Now he is no longer with us and I want to tell you about our
trip together to Pakistan. We talked with the Prime Minister, Chief of
Staff and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan. He told them that we came
here not only for peace in Afghanistan but also for peace in Pakistan.
This was not only about Afghanistan, but our wish is for peace in
Pakistan as well. He told them about the dangers in this path.
He was martyred in the process of peace, brotherhood and country. His
place is in the highest heavens and with Allah. Tomorrow his funeral
will be held and the day after tomorrow will be his mourning day.
