This is an opinion post.
I have observed a spate of media outlets questioning Ahmad Wali Karzai's death, and it has gone to an almost bizarre extent. The truth is there is something very revealing about this constant questioning and doubt. The doubt is a false doubt done in order to relax and calm the mind. The anxiety of knowing that all these Ahmad Walis, Daud Dauds are not safe to support the US war renders the war failed, and this is the very reason why such supporters of the war against Afghanistan express a wishful disbelief. Yes, it is shocking that so many Kabul officials sleep with their eyes open, but denying it is ridiculous. Its not only the Afghan civilians who have to sleep knowing they will be murdered by night raids and airstrikes targeting them.
You have people attributing Ahmad Wali Karzai's assassination to a personal vendetta. The fact is you must ask yourself why a young man such as Sardar Muhammad would go and march into Wali's house and shoot him point blank, knowing full well he would be killed. This is not the act of a gangster to sacrifice his life. This is the act of a man who felt he was dying for his country. People like Ahmad Wali lived for MONEY, and people around him do too. They would never put their life at risk for MONEY though. They would not literally DIE over a money feud like Sardar did.
The same happened when the other high level Mayor of Kandahar was assassinated by a suicide bomber- dubbed a Turban suicide bomber. The family itself came out and said the Taliban did not do it, denying and refuting the Taliban's claim, and then attributing it to personal rivalry. It was absurd.
Since when did these US/Kabul officials seem so intent/ eager in EXONERATING the Taliban?
The fact remains and the answer is NEVER.
These same people are so quick to attribute the hanging of an 8-year old boy to the Taliban, but so eager to refute the Taliban's claim of assassinating Ahmad Wali and Hamidi? So, basically, victims that they deem unworthy or weak (8 year old boy) death can be condemned, BUT NO NO NO, the Taliban could not have killed Ahmad Wali, they say? They attach more meaning to Ahmad Walis life, when in the eyes of Afghans, this guy was a thug. By the way, the Taliban denied killing the 8 year old boy, but the press refused to accept that claim.
Such convenient takes have led to contradictions, most likely due to some personal bias, and this is most likely due to supporting the US war against Afghanistan. You, see if they like other intellectuals accept and confirm that Ahmad Wali, Daud Daud, Jan khan, Hamidi, etc., were assassinated by the Taliban, their false and delusional narrative begins to crumble. The media is told to spin victory in defeat by media heads.
Facts speak. Afghans are wholly opposed to the US occupation and their Kabul "officials." This is not news. Yes, any Afghan could have assassinated Ahmad Wali, and the others, because so many hate those people for supporting the US war.
There was a claim, and lastly it was confirmed by Sardar Muhammad's family.
