    Afghans protests NATO civilian killing

PressTV - Afghans protests NATO civilian killing

Scores of Afghan protesters have taken to the streets in the city of Khogyani to condemn the US-led forces for the overnight killing of two civilians.

The Monday demonstration came after an overnight NATO airstrike killed a teacher and another civilian in Khogyani in Ghazni Province, a Press TV correspondent reported.

The protesters said that foreign troops had also abducted five people from the city in the early hours of Monday.

NATO has confirmed the military operation but branded the victims as militants.

Kabul has been condemning attacks on Afghan people, with President Hamid Karzai saying the foreign forces should stop looking for Taliban militants among civilians.

Hundreds of civilians have lost their lives in US-led airstrikes and ground operations in different parts of the war-ravaged country over the past months.

A large number of civilians have fallen victim to the air raids since the 2001 US-led invasion of Afghanistan.

The loss of civilian lives at the hand of foreign forces has dramatically increased anti-American sentiments in Afghanistan.

Afghans have held several angry protests against NATO over the issue of civilian casualties.

The US-led war in Afghanistan, with civilian and military casualties at record highs, has become the longest war in the US history.
