March 21, 2011 Pakistan's ISI Runs Government, Taliban

Pakistan's ISI covertly running the government, coordinating Taliban
The Pakistani intelligence services, Inter-Service Intelligence agency, is continuing to covertly support terrorist movements in both Pakistan and Afghanistan through its shadowy Directorate S, that is believed to be staffed by pro-terrorist Islamist members of the Pakistani military, according to intelligence sources.

    Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

The ISI element provides money, military supplies and planning support to Taliban leaders through ISI liaison with the terrorist groups. Intelligence reports have indicated that the ISI liaison officers from Directorate S meet regularly with the Taliban to help coordinate the insurgency in Afghanistan.
The connections between the ISI and terrorists have been a major U.S. intelligence target for the past 10 years and is said to be corroborated by human informants and electronic intelligence.
The intelligence contradicts repeated claims by Pakistani government, military and intelligence officials who have denied any connection.
According to U.S. sources, the motivation for the ISI Directorate S backing is to counteract alleged Indian government influence to groups in Afghanistan, although the Islamist orientation of the Directorate S is believed to be the real reason.
The ISI was the main backer for the Taliban and their rise to power in Afghanistan in the 1990s and that the ties have remained.
According to the sources, Directorate S is backing three main groups in Afghanistan, the Quetta-based Taliban, the Gulbuddin Hekmatyar terrorist network and a third group led by Jalaluddin Haqqanni.
Meanwhile, intelligence sources said Pakistan's president Asif Ali Zardari is not the real center of power in nuclear-armed Pakistan, but the state is in fact ruled by the head of intelligence and the chief of the armed forces.
The two key figures in power-sharing in Pakistan are ISI Director Lt. Gen. Ahmad Shuja Pasha whose term was extended last week, and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, who controls Pakistan's powerful military forces

Paki Talal...here is some facts about the British creation cancer.

The ISI was the brainchild of Australian-born British Army officer, Major General R. Cawthome, then Deputy Chief of Staff in the Pakistan Army.[

SS Directorate, which monitors the terrorist group activities that operates in Pakistan against the state of Pakistan. The SS Directorate is comparable to that of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Special Activities Division, and responsible for the covert political action and paramilitary special operations.

^ dear non-paki Azmal you think I couldn't look at Wikipedia ? Sir Directorate S was a KGB branch whereas SS Directorate is an ISI division..An article that so confidently claims inside info on ISI could atleast get the SSD name right

And cawthorn was Austrailian though doesn't matter I guess cz they got the same Queen still Cawthorn was the head of Austrailian Secret Service ASIS and that too during cold war, he served aronud the world as a top rank General, diplomat and as an intel chief for his own country. He was among the most trusted, respected and revered foreign diplomats in Pakistan which you don't easily earn, people keep calling ISI the British brainchild but a guy like cawthorn is exactly someone id trust with to come up with the blueprints for a new Intelligence Organization
