Taliban denies it carried out Afghan hospital car bomb attack

ABC Radio Australia News:Stories:Taliban denies it carried out Afghan hospital car bomb attack

Last Updated: 18 hours 49 minutes ago
The Taliban has denied it was responsible for a car bomb that destroyed a hospital in south eastern Afghanistan killing at least 30 people and injuring more than 100 others.

The brazen suicide attack in Logar province, just south of the capital Kabul, killed women and children and was described as "unprecedented" in the history of the near-decade-long Afghan war by officials.

"This inhumane act is unprecedented in the history of the conflict in our country and targeted a place where wounds are healed and patients receive treatment," the ministry of public health said in a statement.

The statement also voiced "disgust and hatred towards the perpetrators."

Din Mohammad Darwaish, the Logar provincial spokesman, said the attack was a suicide car bombing.

The head of Logar's provincial council, Abdul Wali Wakeel, said local officials had contacted foreign forces to ask for help in evacuating the wounded.

A spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul said he was "not aware" that ISAF had been approached for assistance.

The Taliban denied it was behind the attack, with spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid saying: "We condemn this attack on a hospital... whoever has done this wants to defame the Taliban."

Militants in Afghanistan frequently target the Afghan police and other government employees as well as foreign forces in their near decade-long insurgency.

But civilians are the biggest casualties in the war, with 2,777 killed last year, according to the United Nations.

The huge blast comes at the end of a week when Mr Obama announced that 33,000 US forces would leave Afghanistan by the end of next summer.

All foreign combat forces are due to pull out of the country by the end of 2014. There are currently up to 150,000 foreign forces in Afghanistan, including around 99,000 from the US.

Some analysts fear that Afghan security forces may struggle to contain the insurgency, which has hit record violence levels, as withdrawals start to get under way.

Saturday's attack came as Afghan president Hamid Karzai, who issued a statement condemning it, told a counter-terrorism summit in Tehran that militancy was on the rise in both his country and the region.

"Not only has Afghanistan not yet achieved peace and security but terrorism is expanding and threatening more than ever Afghanistan and the region," he told the opening session.

The two-day summit is being attended by the heads of state of six regional countries, including Afghan neighbours Iran and Pakistan.

The blast is the second major attack in Afghanistan in two days.

On Friday, 10 people were killed by a bicycle bomb which went off in a busy bazaar in Khad Abad district of the northern province of Kunduz.

The explosives were planted in a bicycle near an ice-cream shop.

      Karzai already said blackwater doing
      terrorisim in afghanistan

PressTV - Karzai: Blackwater behind terrorism

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said US private security firms, including Xe Services LLC, formerly known as Blackwater, are being behind terrorism in the country.

At a press conference in Kabul, Karzai said that US security companies have been behind explosions that have claimed the lives of women and children.

The Afghan president added that they have caused "blasts and terrorism" in different parts of Afghanistan over the past months.

The Afghan president said his administration cannot even distinguish between the bomb blasts carried out by US security firms and those of the Taliban militants.

"In fact we don't yet know how many of these blasts are by Taliban and how many are carried out by them (US security companies)."

Blackwater has been involved in the murder of several Afghan citizens over the past years. The company has also been struggling with a trail of legal cases and civil lawsuits, including one for killing 17 Iraqi civilians during a Baghdad shootout in 2007.

Earlier in June, the CIA reportedly admitted that Blackwater had been loading bombs on US drones that target suspected militants in neighboring Pakistan.

The Afghan president has also pointed out that American private security firms are corrupt and have fueled nine years of war.

"Deals under the name of private security companies are cut in the hallways of American government buildings. It involves 1.5 billion dollars," he said.

Karzai has accused security companies of running what he called an economic mafia based on crooked contracts.

"The money, 1.5 billion dollars, is being distributed there (in the United States) on Blackwater [sic] and this and that."

The developments come as the notorious Blackwater has been awarded a five-year State Department contract worth up to USD 10 billion for operations in Afghanistan.

In August, Karzai ordered all security firms to disband before the end of the year.

Some diplomats and military officials say Karzai has been under intense pressure to reconsider his decision.

However, Karzai says he is steadfast in his decision to dissolve foreign security firms in the country despite US pressure to reconsider the decision.

The private companies are said to be in charge of providing security for foreign officials and embassies as well as development projects in Afghanistan.

Karzai has blamed mercenaries for civilian deaths and corruption in the troubled region.

Blackwater (a spy outlet) is the organization behind all these attacks. This is how you can figure it out, when the KNOWN representatives deny any involvement in these heinous crimes against humanity, it is PLAINLY obvious that only NON-MUSLIM FOREIGNERS are behind this.

no one thinks like you except a foreign slave. Once someone denies it, it is denied.

There is no debate. Its obvious you are uneducated. Here, let me make it simple for you. Why would an Afghan attack their own people at a hospital, knowing fully well it would make them hated? You were so happy to jump and accuse. Keep propagating lies. No one else here thinks in such a delusional way like you.

Read below from the article you refuse to read...

"...The Taliban denied it was behind the attack, with spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid saying: "We condemn this attack on a hospital... whoever has done this wants to defame the Taliban."

Give us your educated take on this one

Btw your Taliban proudly claimed it as their prize.
why dont you answer this? Why have you propagated a lie about the hospital attack when the Afghans have already denied it? Why you take their claims when it suits you, but refuse to when it doesn't ? This inconsistency shows your flawed sense of thinking.

No, too many people have told you that you make no sense at all. No one understands you.

Afghans are those who lost their families to night raids and airtstrikes (you dont seem to care about these Afghans), and whose family members are suffering. Afghans are those who are opposed to the foreign intervention in their land.

I am merely posting facts here. I dont need to answer any question. However, in regards to the Bank event, the Taliban claimed responsibility, something you accept. Why then, do you not accept their denial in the hospital attacks??

Im talking facts. You on the other hand pick and choose, and that is why your words have little to no meaning at all

An eight-year-old girl has been killed after insurgents used her in a bomb attack on police in southern Afghanistan, the government has said.

The interior ministry said insurgents gave the girl a package and told her to take it to a police vehicle, detonating it as she approached.

No-one else was killed in the explosion, in Uruzgan province.

The incident came a day after an attack on a hospital which killed at least 38 people in the east of the country.

Dozens were injured. Elderly people, pregnant women and children were said to be among the casualties.

                      'No respect'

A statement by the ministry described the Uruzgan incident as a "crime and a shameful act".

The area where the alleged incident happened is very remote, and it was not possible to independently verify the reports.

"The child, pure-hearted and in good faith, took the bag and moved towards the police vehicle," it said.

"As she got close to the police vehicle, the enemy detonated the bomb by remote control, killing the innocent child."

The governor of Char Cheno district, where the attack took place, told the BBC the girl was from the nearest village.

She was told nothing would happen to her, he said, adding that the perpetrators had "no boundary, no respect for anything".

Correspondents say insurgents have recruited both adult women and recently male children to carry out suicide attacks, though the Taliban denies recruiting children.

Lol, why does no one take you seriously Niazi? Its because no one, not even Karzai agrees with you. How about this, how about you write his nephew Hekmat Karzai and address the following point with him:

There are Hekmat Karzai's own words, not mine:

"Third, an important fact the West needs to understand is that there are many different groups that carry out various acts of violence across Afghanistan - and at the end of the day, most of these acts are attributed to the Taliban.
It must also be noted that there are actors who take advantage of this knee-jerk reaction and misuse the identity of the Taliban for their own political purposes. Clear representation of and by the Taliban can put an end to these types of "misunderstandings"."

""These private security firms have caused insecurity and they've caused infringement of people's rights," he said on Monday, despite pressure from the US-led alliance on him to back down.
He added that the companies "cause the deaths of Afghan children, and they cause blasts and terrorism".
"In fact we don't yet know how many of these blasts are by Taliban and how many are carried out by them [security companies]," he said."

What is so funny here Niazi is that you worship a puppet that disagrees with you! So what does that make you except a puppets droppings?
