WHAT A CHARADE !
[Like nearly all announcements of policies from U.S governments
past maybe the beginning of the 1900s...always a coverup for some deeper
motivations or plans]
And the news in America trumpets this supposed drawdown of -- only 10,000
troops now -- as a daring, "risky" decision.

Notice how the whole story is spun too. All of them are this way:
the poor Afghans are wailing "What will we DO with the Americans? How will
we survive?
Don't abandon us, please, we are depending on you, Mr President"

See how that just reinforces in the uneducated, unperceptive average American
mind how VALUABLE America's occupation of the country is in fact?
For, well, here is just more evidence in these protests "don't leave us by
ourselves".

Even Double A 's apparently confident statement rang hollow.

I thought Karzai seemed awful. It's maybe the first time i have seen him
speaking. I felt nauseated at the sight so something's really terrible about him
beyond the obvious problems...

It's a withdrawal of surge forces. The 30,000 they sent in during the initial surge, then they sent in 30,000 more during the second surge and I think their was a third surge. But that was the plan from the beginning, he announced it back in 2009 that he would send in 30,00 and then withdraw them starting in july 2011..
He is taking out 30,000 by the end of 2012 which is right on track with his re election bid. So if anything goes wrong it will be after 2012 so the election would be over with and policy wont be really debated unitl 2016 when a new president enters the white house.
