Our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Jawad Zahak, Bamiyan’s head of Provincial Council; A man who before his assassination by Taliban, worked selflessly for the people of Bamiyan and Afghanistan. Mr. Zahak was the most loved public figure in his hometown Bamiyan. The reason was his uncompromising efforts in supporting his people, the development process and rebuilding of Bamiyan province, Bamiyan had suffered severe destruction during civil war, in particularly during Taliban’s tyrannical regime, his death is a great loss for people of Afghanistan. Dear readers, unfortunately late Jawad Zahak’s killing is not the only influential tribal figure that Taliban have shamelessly taking credit for, indeed in the past 2 weeks Taliban have alone killed 12 tribal leaders in different regions of Kandahar province, according to reports from Kandahar province.

Taliban’s leaders often claim to be protectors of civilians, yet shamelessly take credit for killing of those who represent people of Afghanistan in their communities. Dear readers, did not Taliban leader from his hideout issued statement saying that he has ordered his militants to stop beheading, instead use other methods? But once again they proved that their rhetoric’s never matching their reality by violently beheading late Jawad Zahak. US Central Command strongly condemns this barbaric act by Taliban and pledge to work with Afghan partners to bring those responsible to justice.
