Afghanistan's Taliban claim downing of NATO helicopter
^
So you are caliming that taliban cam ein ,lets say a village, shot the place up and than paid the very people who they shot up to say americans did it?
i think you need to know one or two about tha Afghan culture and mindset.
the first thing those people would do is to get back at the ones who shot up the place and not tak emoney from them and even say that another party did it.
I'm not saying you personally said all americans, your acts define you, and to a larger extent the people on these forums represent both muslims, afghans, ALA (afghans living abroad) and Pakistanis.
All I remember about it, was en route to a place we visited often. After hearing gun fire we stopped in place for a bit to check things out, brought out our interpreter and asked what was going on. They said it was a familiy feud.
A week later we hear on the news the Taliban claimed that US forces shot up the house...
Needless to say, my personal trust (and I'm sure others) for that area and its people went down a bit after hearing that.
But I'll never forget it. At that time I was still new to the area and as we call it "impressionable." I was here to do all the good I could...so I admit I got angry...didn't do anything about it. Just let it get "bottled up." And swore to myself I'd never forget it...because I couldn't count the times we gave them water and food and just like that...trust was taken away.
Before, I believe we were here to build up the ANA/ANP. As the war went on I believe we are here to specifically remove every member of the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Haqqani, The Group, and others.
The interpreter speaking to the people. He orginally told us that there was a family feud. When we came back later to ask "what the heck?" They said they were paid off.
As far as I can remember now, we pretty much left that village to its own.
EDIT: Not sure if you call those things villages. It's where there are just a few qalats on both sides of the road, 10-15 max.
