Imran lashes out at rulers for making nation ‘slave of US’

    * PTI chief criticises US for asking Pakistan for more when it is already paying heavy price in war against terror

    Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has criticised the present rulers for making the whole nation slave of the US just for the sake of dollars.

Addressing a ceremony held in connection with Youm-e-Takbeer at the Lahore High Court Bar Association under the auspices of Save Judiciary Committee on Saturday, he said due to the policies of the present government, Pakistan had to compromise on its independence and self-respect. “Ruling elite of the country has sold out the nation to protect its personal interests,” he added.

Imran said that Pakistani people were paying a heavy price of US dollars being earned by the country’s rulers. “At least 34,000 innocent people have lost their lives in the war on terror and the US government is still asking us for more sacrifices,” he said.

He said that slavery to the US was worst than that to the East India Company. He said that he had adopted the path of struggle and his every effort was to make Pakistan a self-sufficient nation instead of a nation of beggars wandering here and there with a begging bowl.

Imran claimed that his party would not compromise on the independence of judiciary, as the goal of independence of judiciary was accomplished after long struggle of the lawyers and people from all walks of life.

He vowed to offer every sacrifice to protect the judiciary and chief justice of Pakistan, saying the incumbent judiciary was the last ray of hope for the country.

Pakistan nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan also addressed lawyers over telephone and urged the rulers to mend their ways and protect national interests so that the lost dignity of the country could be restored.

Dr Abdul Qadeer claimed that the security of Pakistan’s nuclear assets was foolproof and the Western countries were unnecessarily propagating against them.

He said that Pakistan had to say no to the foreign aid and a public oriented foreign policy should also be devised to put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.

He said that foreign interference promoted terrorism in the country in which thousands of innocent people, including women and children, lost their lives.

Dr Abdul Qadeer said it was very shameful that a nuclear power stretched out its hands for foreign aid.

He said the rulers had to re-think about their policies to make Pakistan a true democratic state.
