Thanks for posting….but its old discussion…I think the US-Pakistan relationship has changed immensely after OBL killing in paki militarily town….it has literary unmask the ugly face of pakis…frankly I personally don’t see any future for Pakistan. In todays world there is no place for implementing and supporting religion fanatics….and we all know that Pakistan existence and core foreign policy is centered and standing on religion fanaticism. The moment Pakistan deviate from that course, there will be no Pakistan:
Pakistan foundation officially based on Muslim representation of South Asia and as such the only tool to enforce such a flaw policy is to create, train and use religion fundamentalism. Thousands of well established Madrassas has no other purpose other than persisting on such baseless foundation.
Creation of Bangladesh –former east Pakistan - , no success in Kashmir and the undeniable fact that more Moslems live in India than the whole of Pakistan, create the crises of Identity for Pakistan. As such in order to hold the country together and hold on to power, the elite of Pakistan seek their legitimacy by actively participating to advance terrorism and religion extremism---thus there is no place for Pakistan in future…sooner then later this artificial British creation will die her natural death!

So this document predicts two likely scenarios for Pakistan; the first, "the muddling through" and the second "Parallel Pakistans".
The "muddling-through" scenarios sees Pakistan as a military-dominated state in the 5-7 years span that tries to address many of the challenges it is facing but failing to make any progress gradually collapses (by 2025).
The "Parallel Pakistans" : the regional units or provinces gradually become more self-governed and autonomous and the control of the central government weakens. This results in the emergence of a weakened Pakistan.
There are also other scenarios predicted.

i was just watching a video interview of robert kagan (foreign policy initiative)and richard haas (council of foreign relations), from neocon think tanks and they are suggesting that america reprimand pakistan by showing more favouritism to india in reference to afghanistan, to force pakistan into submission. once again using afghanistan as a chesspiece.

The future of afghanistan is more uncertain than pakistan. Afghanistan is curruntly ranked as world's most backward country and second most corrupt country , it is in fierce competition with somalia. So its future is horrible.
