Again this is a seperate topic.

I don't want to support any more division of Pashtuns, we should be trying to unite for our benefit not further divide it.....it is shooting ourselves in the foot.
well the main article was focussing on the division of punjab, division of punjab is actually a possible reality, while other provinces are only proposal, doubt they will happen

That is right...was just kidding. I have no issue with that.

The actual problem doesn't lay in the size of the provinces but rather in the institutional structure of Pakistan foremost the Pakistan army which factually is "PUNJABI ARMY". This army needs to be weakened and its ethnic base needs to broadened by inducting other ethnicities in adequate numbers and its share in budget needs to be slashed or reduced to bare minimum.

That would provide sufficient degree of autonomy and financial resources to provinces to run their affairs in a stable and productive manner.

ANP's corruption and also their slavery character to ISI and America...
Yesterday they were blaming others for working for ISI and getting money from America but today they doing the same thing.

Wrora that has to do with their corruption and lack of spine. They went from Khudae khidmatgaar to mlaa mattha...this is a sad reality about them. No one can change that, that doesn't make MMA better...the bulk of it goes on them for being part of the major mess.

@Esapzai that is what I am saying...South Pashtunkhwa and North should be united, and FATA given special status within them. More autonomy the better preferably along the lines of the 1940 resolution (with some changes if necc).

The structure we have in Pakistan automatically puts Punajabis on the lead , its because of the population . So wether if its army ,provincial budget or other institutions . Punjab is benefiting more.

Take the case of Balochistan, the richest province resources wise but most backward because it has less population. The only way we could do better in Pakistan is to spread like Bacteria .

yeah that is true, thats why almost everyone is calling for the division of punjab in to 3 provinces.

Well if the 1940 resolution is acted upon with a few tweaks that would weaken the influence of just one group and make a more fair confederation

^^Better administration can deal with it...there are other ways rather than divided Pashtuns As long as they are in one province they can be subdivided into districts to better distribute the resources

Well smaller province almost always translates into better governance. Especially for countries with heterogeneous populations, smaller provinces work better than larger ones. In India's case, small provinces have not only helped focus on issues that could earlier be ignored due to different priorities of the large state but it has also given relative control and ownership to smaller groups and communities, meeting their nationalistic objectives to an extent. For example, pre-47 era, Bombay was one province with large parts of Gujarat included. Similar was the case with Punjab that was large enough to include the current day Haryana and Himachal Pradesh apart from Punjab itself. The breaking up of the larger states provided some attainment of nationalistic objective for the smaller group, while keeping the larger control with the central govt at Delhi.

So it might work for Pakistan Punjab as well.

pakistan already has provinces and deprives balochistan and kp of development money and infrastructure, how would more provinces help pashtuns? the problem is at the top, not the bottom.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

The voices for dividing punjab province recently are getting louder and louder. But do we really need to do it, what will be the consequences for this and what will be the advantages. I dont see any sane discussion going on the bigger picture. My personal view is that many people are calling it for their own personal petty agenda and they are not voicing it in the interest of pakistan.

But if we think with an unbiased view and above our petty self interest, and truly for the well being of pakistan than we can come to this conclusion that,

                          1. Pakistan has definitely developed but not uniformly, many smaller cities got over looked (not only in punjab but in all provinces).

                          2. Facilities were not provided equally to the people of all regions,

                          3. Lot of potential is getting wasted.

                          4. The politics of language, color, breed is still strongest in pakistan and we have not been able to go above and beyond, punjabi, pakhtoon, sindhi, balochi nationalism.

Dividing punjab on linguistic basis will add one more nationalism (“saraiki”) to the already afore mentioned list of nationalisms, which is destructive for our unity & development.

Also pakistan has at least 32 languages. Punjabi is spoken by 44% of pakistan (almost 90 million) and chitrali is spoken is in just one district (less 0.5 million). So this will not only further divide as a nation, but will give rise to more big brother, small brother politics & economic growth will be further hampered, as many of the linguistic based provinces will not be economically viable.

But i think if all the provinces are divided in the best interest of pakistan, then many benefits can be achieved.

                          1. More provinces means more cities will be developed and all the population load which is coming into either karachi or lahore can be reduced.

                          2. More provinces means more people will be empowered to choose their destiny.

                          3. Better distribution of resources of pakistan.

                          4. It may give rise to pakistani nationalism then the punjabi, sindhi, pashto, balochi nationalism, if the division is not based on languages.

                          5. It probably will allow the politician to seriously work for their people, once they dont have big brother “punjab” to blame for everything.

These are the reason which compelled me and my friend (more work done by him) to come up with a new provincial division for pakistan. This is a suggestion and all and every input which comes with the sole interest of betterment of pakistan will be appreciated.

We divided pakistan into 12 provinces and federal capital islamabad. Mostly the existing districts are not divided except for in couple of places. Apart from above mentioned reasons, railway links, road network, rivers and canals flow were also considered while recommending these new provinces. Although we are not experts on these fields so we put lot of common sense and and more importantly the interest of pakistan while making these divisions.

Also the name of the new provinces are not based on cast, language or one identity in most of the cases. These names have some historic or geographic perspective. Present names of all the provinces except sindh do not have much historic background.

Many critical issues of pakistan like kalabagh dam are not resolved due to the sindhi-punjabi politics. Once new proposed provinces are made, many of these issues will be resolved amicably as indus river would not be under “takht-e-lahore” rule. Most of the proposed provinces are linguistically heterogeneous & geographically strongly bonded. Many smaller languages will also get chance to flourish because majority languages will not be in absolute (2/3rd) majority to over shadow minority languages as in the present provinces.

Below are the suggested new provinces for pakistan.

I mean why cant we associate ourselves by being Pakistanis or Muslims only.? or does our nationalism and religion comes at the bottom of every thing. ?

Secondly dividing Punjab on the basis of ethnicity or linguistically will be the biggest blunder we will make.. we will be creating more Bangladeshs.. Can we really afford more divisions and more breakdown in our society.??

We seriously need to take an hour a week to think about ourselves.? What we are? what we were ordered to be from the Almighty. and how we can improve ourselves.?

Dude we pakistanis have not learnt any thing from east bengal episode. The more you try to suppress and dilute ethnic and linguistic identities, the more are chances of creating mess like bangladesh...there is nothing wrong with expression of natural identity which in my case is pashtun..concerns and fears were always shown that renaming NWFP would trigger separatist movement, tell me any thing happened?
Pashtuns are 5 thousands years old nation, we would be big fools to forget/weaken our rich culture and langauge for sake of a 60 year old pakistan....every fellow pakistani would tell me that we should forget about being sindhi, baloch, pathan and punjabi, we are only pakistanis and our langauge should be only urdu.....which is a main problem in unity, a punjabi or urduspeaker dont try to understand pashtuns neither he wants to learn any thing about their society, history and culture, he just expects a perfect urdu and pakistani nationalism from him....
In short there should be no more provinces, pakistan should be a federation of four nations.
