known to who? the casual american air head or to people who actually have a knowledge of the regions politics?

america funds the afg govt and pakistan, pakis fund the taliban, america funds the afg govt to fight the taliban. its america who looks stupid in the end here.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

he and abdullah have a mental disease whereby they believe jamiat has the right to be a legal legitimate entity in afghan society but somehow the taliban and hezb i islami gulbadin dont have the same rights.

            randolph,

What makes you think that American is the stupid or looks stupid. Don't you think they know what Pakis are doing? Don't you think they are also playing the game?

lol I don't think they are any more part of the old Jamiat, clearly they and Rabani are at odds while he is seeking reconciliation with Taliban. Rabani even openly critticised them only last week.

There are major rifts between ex-Jamiatis. I think more between what were Massoud's loyalists and Rabani's. I think Rabani is more Islamic and lesser secterain and ethno-centric and indeed has wider and broad-range inflluece in all regions as far as Herat and Kandahar, while the Massoud loyalists or the Shura e Nezar are from a more limited constituency and chavunists and ethno-nationalists.

Abdullah the idiot stunter is as much of a fool as Saleh. They seem desperate. There is something funny about Abdullah, he seems to be the first queer politician probably in Afghanistan.

                    MIRANSHAH, Pakistan | Tue May 17, 2011 3:23am EDT

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan (Reuters) - A NATO helicopter from Afghanistan intruded into Pakistan's frontier North Waziristan region on Tuesday, wounding two troops, local intelligence officials said, in an incident likely to further anger Islamabad after the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden.
Here are some facts on the northwestern region of North Waziristan:
                    * North Waziristan is on Pakistan's unruly border with Afghanistan, an area which has been described as a global hub for militant groups, including al Qaeda.
                    * Arid and mountainous, North Waziristan is one of seven tribal agencies, and home to a population of predominately Pashtun tribesmen. The lack of state control there makes it an ideal hub for militants to operate and train.
                    * Waziristan absorbed thousands of refugees during the 1979-1989 Soviet invasion and occupation of Afghanistan. It became a refuge for Taliban and al Qaeda militants fleeing the U.S. military intervention in Afghanistan in 2001, and is thought to house camps that train local and foreign militants.
                    * North Waziristan is home to militants from the Haqqani network, headed by Afghan Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani. The Haqqani network is allied with the Afghan Taliban and is believed to have close links to al Qaeda, as well as long-standing links with Pakistan's powerful spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
                    * Pakistan, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism, first established military posts in Waziristan in 2002. There are currently 34,000 Pakistani troops in North Waziristan.
                    * Pakistan's army has been under mounting pressure from the United States to launch an offensive against militants based there, following successful campaigns in other tribal areas. U.S. officials acknowledge this is a hard sell because of resistance within Pakistani intelligence, which analysts say regards the Haqqani group as a counterweight to the influence of its rival India in Afghanistan.

America is already getting tired of Pakistan. Personally even though I am from Waziristan, I hope the UN or Nato or America goes into North Waziristan and dismantles those Terrorist Haqqanis, Punjabi Taliban and those LET Punjabi Militants!

I want peace in Waziristan and I dont want it used as a hotbed for Int Terrorism financed by the Pakistani ISI.

Most people of Waziristan are living in tents and on the streets of DI Khan and Tank, and nobody has even given them a second thought so why are people so concerned about Nato taking on the Taliban.

The Taliban have slaughtered beheaded and brutally murdered over 200 tribal elders who opposed the presence of foreigners such as Afghan Taliban, Uzbeks,Tajiks and Punjabis in South Waziristan, Pakistan army has been protected the Afghan Taliban in Miram Shah and also the Haqqanis and Mullah Nazeers and Gul badahurs.

I think a Neutral power should enter Waziristan and pound these Taliban and Pakistan Army units into pieces.

Mark my words carefully, If Nato does attack Wazirisitan, and Pakistan is forced to respond, I guarantee you will see Pak Army units fighting alongside the Taliban and the Ghudals and Zaeefs will be shamed !

                        ^^^^^^

Lol, you think NATO is a "neutral" party? You must not like peace if you think the only way for peace is to have US boots on the ground. It's only going to make matters worse.

It was Pakistan that demanded this guy be fired for his extreme anti Pakistan anti Taliban views. It was Karzai with US consent that fired him so he is angry at two parties, Pakistan and the US and he is going on a PR campaign to tell the American people that your government is not responding to the real threat which is Pakistan.

First this man has no education so he is incapable of thinking of broader US goals for the region. The only thing he knows is Panjshir, outside of Panjshir he is completely naive on how things work. He is being used by entities in the US that would like policy to be more confrontational with Pakistan otherwise no one will know him.

Remember this guy was the head of the Afghan intelligence agency since 2004. The Taliban started their campaign to be a power to be reckon with in that year. They did it under his watch. If this guy didn't want any negotiations with the Taliban to take place. He should have done his job better. He is a prime example of Tajiki ghul.
