Imran Khan declares legal war against US drone attacks in Pakistan

Islamabad, April 20(ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced plans to adopt a two-way strategy to end the US drone campaign in Pakistan's tribal areas- by the application of public pressure within the country, and taking legal action through international courts of law.

Khan made this announcement at a joint press conference with Clive Smith of Reprieve - a charity organisation, which provides free legal aid to families of drone attacks' victims in collaboration with the Justice Project of Pakistan.

The PTI chief said some 90 per cent of the people targeted by drones are civilians, adding that 18 out of every 20 victims of drone attacks are innocent.

"The bodies of the victims are usually beyond recognition, but somehow the victims become suspects after they are dead," the Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.

"Rulers have sold national sovereignty for dollars," said the PTI chief as he urged the people to take to the streets against this "state-sponsored terrorism".

Alleging that the government has fixed the "match of drone attacks" with the US administration, Khan condemned it for failing to protect the life and property of the citizens.

He invited all political parties to his proposed sit-in at Peshawar on April 23-24 against US drone attacks, saying that it was a national cause, and that it was their duty to rise up against foreign aggression and the government's failure in getting the drone strikes stopped.

Speaking on the occasion, Smith said his organisation was meeting affected people and providing them legal help in the United States, the United Kingdom, Pakistan and at international courts.

Imran warns govt against blocking sit-in

Imran warns govt against blocking sit-in

    LAHORE

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has warned the government against creating obstacles in the way of the PTI s sit-in plan in Peshawar on April 23 and 24 to obstruct the Nato supplies.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader said the rulers were responsible for the merciless killing of innocent people, including children, in the drone strikes, inviting all sincere and patriotic political and religio-political forces to join hands with the party to block the way of Nato supplies in Peshawar.

The whole nation was condemning the drone attacks but the rulers were only paying lip service to stop the attacks, he said.

When asked why he was only targeting the government, not the Army, over drone attacks, Imran said that, during the Musharraf era, he was a big critic of the Army on this matter but, under a democratic set up, it was the elected government which was responsible for drone strikes.

He also dispelled the impression that PTI was going to hold an ISI-sponsored sit-in, adding that no effort should be made by the government to bloc the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf way.

He said that the sit-in on the road being used as a supply link to the Nato forces would be historic, hoping that at least 20, 000 activists only from the PTI would gather on the venue to give their verdict on the drone attacks.

To a question about the plan of forming a national government, Imran said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would not become part of any such deal, adding the party had a record that it never compromised over national interests.

Coming hard on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government, he said the Test Tube leadership born in Gen Jillani era should not deceive the nation.

Meanwhile, former ticket holder of PML-N from Jhang, Dr Abul Hassan, Sheikh Arfa Majeed, Raja Nasir Sultan and others also announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Besides PTI workers, the party leaders, including Dr Yasmeen Rashid and Ahsen Rasheed were also present.

Imran Khan tomove courts against US drone attacks Internews/Islamabad
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan yesterday announced to move international courts to seek an end to the ongoing United States drone attacks in Pakistani northern areas in addition to mounting public pressure to achieving the objective.
Addressing a joint press conference with British national Clive Smith, who runs a charity, Khan alleged that the rulers had sold the national sovereignty for the sake of American dollars.
“We have decided to adopt a two-way strategy, i.e. public pressure within the country, and litigation at international courts of law, to end drone attacks in Pakistan that are killing innocent civilians,” he remarked.
The PTI chairman sought public cooperation in this connection and said it was high time for people to take to streets against what he billed as the state-sponsored terrorism.
He claimed a national consensus had been evolved against the drone strikes after the emergence of the Raymond Davis issue.
He said 90 per cent of the people targeted in drone attacks were innocent civilians, quoting local elders, he added that 18 out of every 20 victims of drone attacks were innocents.
In total contrast to it, Pakistan military’s General Officer Commanding 7-Division Maj Gen Ghayur Mehmood said in a briefing here the other day: “Myths and rumours about US Predator strikes and the casualty figures are many, but it’s a reality that many of those being killed in these strikes are hard-core elements and a sizeable number of them are foreigners”.

How will you protect the civillains from drones?
Did the drones stop the war in afghanistan?
How many terrorists killed by drones and did the killing of leadership stop your so called war on terror?
If you think your masters are targetting only the ,,trahagars,,,so what you think of moving into waziristan and start living with your pashtun brothers/civilains to taste your drones?

You need policy change.Bashing mullas in every post mean hiding ISI and CIA crimes.

It is well known fact that this dirty war is started by CIA and ISI joint mission.
The mullas are the tools used by CIA and ISI.
